Sonny helps Mike put on his vest before he goes in, securing the straps firmly. His gun is hidden but loaded and ready, eyes anxious but face set to appear calm. Because of his connection with the perp, he’s the only one allowed in to try and diffuse this, something that makes Sonny unspeakably nervous.

“Remember your promise,” he says, “no heroics. I almost lost you once. I never want to feel like that again.”

“I’ll be safe.”

When the vest is on and Sonny straightens back up, he holds Mike’s face in his hands like he’s trying to memorize him in case something goes wrong. Once Mike goes in, he can’t protect him anymore. All he has is hope that nothing goes wrong.

“I love you.”

“I love you too,” Mike says. He pulls Sonny’s hands down, offers him a brief smile, and leaves.

This is amazing! We all need Mike to be ok!

going back in time to early relationship //

After things start to calm down and the fighting slows to a stop, you feel like you’re living in a dream. Sonny has taken the reigns with ease and the nation is better for it every day. He’s calmer and happier, and everyone can see it. It lends to moments like this, laying with him in the garden and a little tipsy on the champagne that he’s technically not even allowed to have yet. 

“I love you,” he says suddenly. “I know I say it a lot. But I just. Love you.”

“Love you too,” you answer.

He gets quiet for a minute before turning to you and reaching up to cup your face in his warm hand. You lean into it easily, taking the same comfort from him that you always have.

“Would you mind if I kiss you?”

Your mouth goes dry. You’ve always had a little bit of a crush on Sonny, if you’re honest, but never expected it to be returned in a million years. Silently, you nod, and he closes the gap between you to kiss you.

“She’s the woman of my dreams,” Razor breathed suddenly in a subdued voice, gaze fixed on someone across the room. You broke off where you were in conversation with Nick, recognizing Veronica who was laughing with a few of the other girls by the bar.

“Veronica?” you asked for confirmation and Razor just nodded and swallowed hard, reaching out to take swig of his beer. Nick chuckled and leaned back further into the loveseat the two of you were sharing in the lobby and bar area of the massage parlor.

“Don’t do it, hermano. She’s going to break your heart,” he warned in an amused tone and you turned to frown at him a little. Razor’s gaze was still fixed on Veronica and you jostled his knee to end his staring.

“Why? Because she’s—?” you didn’t finish your sentence, but you arched an eyebrow at Nick pointedly. He sat up straighter and hastened to clarify, shaking his head.

You were in the middle of asking Cameron a question about work experience when Sonny let himself into the house. He took one glance at where the two of you were seated on the couch and pulled his gun. Matty was behind Sonny and barely in the door when he immediately did the same in response.

“Who the hell are you?!” Sonny yelled, gun trained steadily on where Cameron was sitting next to you.

You stood up slowly to caution him, not daring to put yourself between the two of them. Sonny would no doubt get agitated even further and that was the last thing you needed over a misunderstanding.
