FICTOBER18 DAY 30 PROMPT | “Do we really have to do this again?”

“The party starts in twenty minutes,” Sonny pointed out in a half-hearted mumble. You set the camera across the room again and then pushed him back into position and posed right before it took another picture. You scurried across the room to check to see if it was good.

“I just want to make sure we get a good one before everyone starts drinking and dancing and sweating,” you replied absently as you zoomed in on the photo to make sure it was in focus. It was okay, and you’d already taken a dozen more, but you wanted just one more to make sure you had options. “Okay, one more time and I’m going to set it to take a bunch at a time.”

“Do we really have to do this again?” Sonny whined. He scratched at his wig and you looked up to glower at him.

“If you—”

“This will be the last set,” Nick interjected firmly, talking over you. He squeezed Sonny on the arm and gave him a soft look. “Last set and then we’re going to go and have fun.”

“Yes, dad,” you replied in a mocking tone. You stuck your tongue out at him and he laughed and rolled his eyes.

“That’s Marc to you,” Nick said with a growing smile. “Mr. Antony if you’re nasty.”

The joke had the intended affect and broke the tension in the room. You and Sonny both laughed and Nick looked pleased with a puffed up chest and hand on his faux leather belt by his sword. You sent Sonny an apologetic look and he pressed a kiss to your temple before pushing you between them and obediently posing as the camera counted down.
