You’re always number one.” And nick?

The big, red circle on the calendar loomed in front of you. One week away. One week to success or defeat. Inside the circle, also in red ink, NYC Marathon. Nick came up behind you. He leaned down and whispered, “staring isn’t gonna make it go away.” You elbowed him in the stomach. He laughed, “You’re grumpy this morning. Not sleep well dear?“ He smirked at you.

“You would know, Sarge”, you quipped and raised your eyebrow at him.

“I don’t remember hearing any complaints last night bella”, he countered. He pulled you against him, trailing kisses down your neck.

“Mmmm…well maybe you would have, if you weren’t so loud.” The kisses stopped and picked you up and sat you on the desk. He slowly spread your knees, resting himself between your legs.

“True. But with these legs wrapped around me, can you blame me?” He slowly ghosted his fingertips up your thighs, pushing your T-shirt up and over your head. His eyes shot up to yours. “No panties Mrs. Amaro? Oh, you are in trouble cause I’m going to late for work now.”

Marathon day had finally arrived. You had nervous energy. Nick got up not long after you had finished your breakfast. “Heading out soon?”

“Yeah”, you got up from the table and put you bowl in the sick. Turning around to face Nick you asked, “Do you think I’m crazy for doing this? I mean I haven’t ran a marathon since Owen was what, four? That was six years ago. I’ve had another baby since then. What if I can’t finish?” The questions came like rapid fire.

Nick moved from where he was leaning against the doorway. He placed his hands on your shoulders. “Hey, Y/N. You have been training for this for months. You got this, and no matter what happens I am proud of you, okay?”

You had made it about half way when you spotted Nick, the kids, his mom and members of the squad. They were all holding up signs and yelling to cheer you on. You gave a quick wave of acknowledgment, not wanting to break your stride.

The finish line in Central Park was in sight. You did it! After crossing the finish line you collapsed into the grass, catching your breath and looking up at the blue sky. A smile broke across your face, you did it! You hadn’t been this proud of yourself since passes your boards.

Finally sitting up, you looked around, hoping to find Nick. There were so many people. He was going to find you at the finish line. You stood trying to get a better view. Nick came up behind you speaking your name. When you turned he was there with the whole crew. Nick was holding a sign, ‘You’re always #1 to me. I love you’

Tears sprang in your eyes. The emotions of the day taking you over. Nick pushed the tears from your eyes and leaned down to kiss you. Pulling him closer to you, you deepened the kiss. That earned whistles and whoops from your group and passer-bys. You and Nick laughed. “C’mon. Your fan club awaits.”
