//Nick deserves happiness. Fluffy fluff.//
Nick breezed into the apartment. You watched him stride past you and into the bedroom. He kept his head down, never making eye contact. He emerged a few minutes later, having changed out of his suit, finally acknowledging you. “Good evening, cariña”, he said giving you a quick peck on the cheek. He flopped down on the couch and switched on the TV.
“What’s up Nick? ‘Good evening’, ignoring me coming through the door. Somethings up” raising a questioning eye brow.
“Huh? Nothing. Everything is fine” and he gave you a small smile. His leg was bouncing up and down. Only something he did when he was nervous or upset. A couple minutes later he was off the couch, practically running from the room. He returned and handed you a glass of wine, still not sitting.
“Thanks babe” you said eyeing him carefully, “Nick. Sit down, stop fidgeting. You’re making me nervous.”
He took a sip from his wine, not taking his eyes off you. “Sorry princessa. I….”, he looked down at the floor and ran his fingers through his hair, “there’s something I want to say to you. To ask you. It’s something I’ve known I was going to ask since our first date.” Your heart was pounding, mind racing.His phone started ringing, “Damn it. It’s Liv”, he spat, “hold on I’ll be right back.” “Amaro”, you heard him snap as he walked down the hall.
Now you were the fidgety, nervous one, pacing back and forth waiting for him to come back. He returned a few minutes later, having changed back into his suit.
“Sorry. I have to go back in. They caught the suspect. We’ll talk when I get home later, ok?”
“Do you really have to go?”, asking as you rose from the couch.
Nick pulled you into his arms. You buried your hed into his chest, breathing in his scent. He kissing the top of your head, “I’m sorry. Believe me, this is where I want to be, more than anything.”
Picking your head up you gazed into his chocolate brown eyes. He leaned down, giving you a passionate kiss that you returned with gusto.He pulled away and turned to leave. You grabbed his hand, “Are you seriously going to leave without asking me the question you’ve been dying to ask me?”
He pulled you back into him, pressing his forehead to yours. “Mi amor, what I want to ask you is not something that should be asked in haste.” Turning to leave again he blew you a kiss.
“Hurry back”, you called after him, “and be careful.”
“Always am."Nick shut the door behind him letting out long sigh. He pulled a small, velvet box out of his jacket pocket. A round diamond sparkled in the light. "Please give me protection and make it home safe. And Lord, please let her say ‘yes’”, he looked up saying a quick prayer. He hurried down the steps to the car. The sooner he got there, the sooner he get back hone to you, his soon to be fiancé. His face broke into a big grin as he started the car and drove away.
