Undercover Alt. Ending #2

Dominick Carisi was the last person you needed to be seeing right now. The NYPD rarely sends in another UC unless they think someone is in danger or they think the UC has broken rank. And you were pretty sure it was the later in this instance. Part of you was angry but part of you understood. For over a year you were loyal about checking in, but recently you hadn’t made the effort to do so. It had been weighing on your mind for some time. The intel you had been feeding to your contact the last few months was false. Even though you had thought about getting out, you were too deep now. Your biggest fear was coming clean to Luis before he found out the truth.

The next day when you woke and was out the door as the sun was rising. Early morning was your favorite time to run. There was something about the still, new beginnings, refreshed from the night before. You took the cool Autumn air into your lungs. When you ran all other thoughts were out if your head.

An arm wrapped around your waist, then a hand went to your mouth to muffle your scream. You instantly started kicking trying to break loose.

“Stop. It’s me,” Sonny said. He put you back on your feet.

“Jesus Sonny. What the hell is wrong you!” You pushed at his chest and ripped your earbuds from your ears. “If someone sees us…” Although it was highly unlikely given your location and time of day.

“I know. I’m going to make this fast. I’m getting pressure from Liv. She wants you out. Said they have enough intel to put Luis and some of his associates away.”

You bit your lip. “I just need a little bit more time. Make them understand,” you pleaded with Sonny.

He took your hand. “I’m worried about ya, doll. You seem way too involved and it just-”

“I’m out Sonny.”

“Out? What do you mean? Not-no.” The two of your stood in silence for a few moments. “What the hell are you thinking Y/L/N?” Sonny threw his hands in the air.

“I love him, Sonny,” you said simply.“I gotta go.” You pulled your hand from Sonny’s. As you resumed your jog, you were uncertain what you would do…

Sonny watched as Y/N disappeared down the street. He would do anything to keep you safe. He loved you. And not just as a friend, or partner. That was the first time he admitted it to himself. Whatever choice you made, he would have your back. Even if it meant going down with you.

Luis entered the bedroom, loosened his tie and threw it over the chair. “You’re still up. I figured you would be asleep by now.” He dropped a kiss to your lips. Luis finished readying himself for bed while he talked about his day. “Y/N? Did you hear me?”

“I’m sorry. Pre-occupied,” you gave an explanation, shrugging your shoulders. “Um, no. There were no problems with today’s delivery.”

“What’s on your mind?” He sat on the side of the bed. Attentive as always. He tilted your chin. “You can tell me anything.”

Tears welled up in your eyes. Coming clean to Luis in the middle of the night is not what you had planned to do. Since you had the conversation with Sonny last week, it was all you could think about. Doing it now was dangerous but not telling him was just as bad. “What I have to tell you, you’re not going to like it. You’re going to hate me. Hell, you may even-”

“Carino. There’s nothing you could say that would make me hate you,” he interjected.

“I highly doubt that,” you scoffed.

A knock at the bedroom door interrupted your confession. No one ever came to the bedroom door, unless it was serious. “What is it?’ Luis said in an exasperated tone.

“Sir,” Fernando’s muffled voice came through the door. “It’s Carmen.”

Luis and you both rushed from the bed and wrenched open the door. The look on Fernando’s face told you it wasn’t good.

Carmen lay motionless. Her chest rose and fell with the assist of the ventilator. She looked so small in the big bed. You held her hand, gently stroking the back with your thumb as you read from her favorite book of poetry.

Luis went home to shower and take care of a few things. Both of you had been at the hospital for the last three days, pretty much around the clock. It was late. Only you in the room and Cesar was down the hall in the waiting area.

You sat the book down, taking her hand in both of yours. Taking a deep breath you made a late night confession.

The day of Carmen’s funeral was bitter cold with snow on the ground. After the service, Luis had people over to the house. You were making the rounds greeting people, making sure the food was right. Luis had been MIA since you had got home. No one had seen him, including Fernando. You had a pretty good idea where you would find him.

Sonny caught up with you in the hall. “How ya doin’? How’s Luis?”

“Like you care,” you snarked. Sonny’s face fell. “Shit. I’m sorry Sonny. That- I’m doing okay. Carmen was such a good person. Luis is well, it’s a minute to minute.”

“I better go.” He kissed the top of your head.

You watched him retreat down the hall. “Sonny. Thank you.”

He gave you a smile. “Anytime doll.” You returned the smile then was back to your original mission.

“Everyone is asking after you,” you said softly when you entered the library. Luis was sitting in one of the leather chairs, fanning through a book. You sat on the arm of the chair and ran a hand up and down his back.

He nodded his head. “She loved this room. I think she was in here more than her own part of the house.” Luis hung his head, sobbing so hard his body was shaking.

You wrapped your arms around him and kissed his head. He leaned into your body. Tears of your own started rolling from the corners of your eye. Carmen was an extraordinary woman. She accepted you the first time you met her. “Want me to get rid of everyone?” you offered. “We can have this place cleared out in five minutes.” You sniffled and wiped your eyes.

He shook his head. “It’s okay. Just stay by me?”

Later that evening Luis came into the family room. You were curled up in the corner of the couch watching the fire.  “Mama said if something happened to her, you were to have this.” He sat a small box in front of your on the coffee table. You gave him a questioning look. “Go ahead. Open it.”

The small box was covered in black velvet and had some age to it. When you opened the box you gasped. “Luis, I can’t…these are the earrings that belonged to your grandmother.”

“She loved you, Y/N. Made me promise to take care of you.” He took your hand. “The other night, when you were sitting with my mom, I was standing just outside the door. I heard what you told her.” His grasp on your hand tightened.

You paled. Your eyes grew big and you swallowed the lump in your throat. Your mouth was moving but no sounds came out. Your mind was racing, your mouth grew dry, you thought you were going to be physically ill.

Luis rose from the couch, letting your hand fall into your lap. He started pacing the room, one hand running through his hair. You sat in silence, watching him, wondering what he was thinking, what he was going to do. Finally, he spoke. “I have most of the answers I need, all but one. Tell me one thing. When did you stop acting?”

You cleared your throat. “About three months in,” your voice was shaky, “I realized I loved you. That has never been an act, Luis. Every ‘I love you’. Every time we made love. It was genuine. And I do love you, Luis.”

He looked over to where you were now standing, unsure whether to believe you. The conflict on his face was evident. He watched as you slowly walked to him. “So you’re just going to give up your life, to be with me?” He sounded surprised. Not many people, other than his mom, had ever sacrificed anything unless it was on their best interest.

“Yes,” you replied in a small voice. “I’m all in if you’ll have me. If you trust-”

Luis’ crashed his lips into yours backing you up against the wall. He pressed his long, hard body flush with yours.  His hand held yours above your head, while the other cupped your breast under your shirt. “You. Are. Mine,” he said between kisses to your neck and lips.

“Yes. Yours,” you responded breathlessly.

He grasped your thighs and hoisted you up, wrapping your legs around his waist. “Never leave me.”

“Never,” you gasped.

“Are you sure?” Liv asked not believing what she was hearing. She pushed herself up from her desk. “I- I’m speechless.”

“Love will make you do strange things. Make you risk everything you have, your life, friends, job…” Sonny looked down at his folded hands.

“Sonny?”

He looked at Liv and gave her a sad smile. He thought back to the conversation before you and Luis left out of the country…

“I could arrest you right now. Take you in-”

“But you won’t.”

Sonny stared at you. “What about me? What happens to me? I can’t-”

“Come with me, us,” you encouraged.  “You are important in my life too.”

For a second, you thought Sonny might take you up on the offer. “I can’t do that, doll. My parents, sisters are here. Plus I took an oath.”

“I understand.” You stretched up to give him a tight hug. “You always have a safe place to land with me. I love you Sonny Carisi.” You kissed him on the lips.

He inhaled your scent. “I love you too.”

UC Alt. Ending #1-Loyalty

“I have to go out of town,” Luis informed you when you came in from your morning run. He was putting folders into his briefcase and there was an open suitcase on the bed.

“Oh. Okay. I thought, I mean you said we were going to-”

“You didn’t let me finish. I want you to go with me,” he clarified as he rose from the stool. “Vegas baby.”

“Really? I’ve never been!” You jumped into his arms.

He caught you easily and chuckled. “Go pack a bag. Jet is being fueled, ready to go in an hour.”

After landing, you and Luis along with Fernando, Sonny and one of the other new security guys, Brian, headed to the hotel.

The suite was amazing with an incredible view of the strip. “This is incredible Luis,” you said still looking out the floor to ceiling windows. He had taken you on a lot of trips, but this one was going to be the most exciting in your book.

He slid his arms around your waist. “Just wait til dark and all the lights on the strip are lit.” He kissed your head. “I have to go out for a couple hours.”

You sighed. “Right. Work. I almost forgot,” you responded.

“I’ll be gone two, three hours tops. Go to the spa, get a massage, play the slots. Have fun,” he encouraged you.

“Teach me to play craps later?”

“Whatever you want mi amor.” Luis checked his buzzing phone. “Gotta go. Remember, have some fun.” You followed him out to the main living where Sonny and Fernando were waiting. “Sonny stay with Y/N. Fernando and Brian will be with me.”

Your eyes darted to Sonny when he spoke. “Yes, sir. I’ll have Brian bring the car around.”

Luis kissed you. “I love you. Remember what I said.”

“I love you too Luis.”

“After you,” Sonny said when the elevator door opened. “So been to Vegas before?”

“No. Have you?” you asked. You fidgeted with your earring. Sonny was standing close.

“Yeah. Once for a buddy’s bachelor party.” He looked over at you. “You still do that thing where you play with your earring when you’re nervous.”

“Huh?” You dropped your hand to your side. “You’re very observant.”

“I’m a detective. It’s my job.”

You smiled. “Probably not a good thing to say out loud.”

When the two of you exited the elevator you were both laughing. You put a hand on Sonny’s arm and you felt him tense under your touch. “Sorry.”

“No apologies. Just been a long time since you’ve touched me.” He looked down at his shoes.

Before you went UC, you always made an excuse to touch him somehow. Now both of you pulled away from the others touch. “Yeah, well…” You cleared your throat. “Let’s go play some slots.”

Sonny nodded and ghosted a hand to the small of your back. “Lead the way.”

“One more play, then I’m walking away. How do people get addicted to this? I hate losing,” you complained as you hit the button one more time.

“It’s a thrill. Some people play slots, some skydive and other people sleep with the enemy,” he said in a teasing tone.

Your hand slapped the spin button again as you looked at Sonny. “Then you have the ones that are sassy to the fiance of a drug kingpin.” You tried to keep a straight face but it was useless. Both of your started laughing. The Jackpot sign lit up on your machine and made a cha-ching sound.

“Doll, you won!” Sonny exclaimed.

“Oh my gosh!” You turned and Sonny gave you a high five.

“Having fun?” Luis’ voice got your attention.

“Babe! I won the jackpot!” You threw your arms around his neck. “This is so cool!”

“Congratulations mi amorcito.”  Luis gave Sonny a pointed look when you turned back to the machine. “Sonny. You’re free to go back to your room. Your services won’t be needed any more this evening.”

He nodded. “Good evening Mr. Saez. Ms. Y/L/N.” There was an emphasis on the Ms.

“Let’s go cash you out then head to the craps table, then we’ll get some dinner.” Luis intertwined his fingers with yours.

The last day in Vegas was uneventful. While Luis finished up business you went to the pool, then got a massage. As you were finishing your makeup your phone dinged. ‘Running late. Meet you at the restaurant. I have a surprise for you. Love you’  You responded,  ‘Can’t wait. See you there. Love you too.’

“Not too bad,” you complimented yourself as you turned in the mirror. The dress you were wearing was black, hugged your curves, and was the right mix of sexy and feminine. After you slid on your black heels you went to the front room to wait until it was time to go.

“Are ya ready?” he asked. His voice startled you, making you jump.

“Jesus, Sonny. Don’t sneak up on me like that,” you chided him. “I’m almost ready, just having trouble with the clasp on this necklace. I’ll be out in a minute.”

“Here. Let me,” Sonny offered gesturing to your necklace.

“Thanks,” you replied. A chill went down your spine as Sonny brushed your hair off your neck. His fingers barely touching your skin. He was close, too close. His breath was hot on your neck.

“Got it.” A hand ghosted down your arm. “Still have such soft skin.”

“Y/N?” Luis’ voice boomed through the suite.

“In here,” you called back. Sonny immediately stepped away, but your skin was on fire where he touched you.

“Sonny. What are you doing here?” Luis asked.

“He was getting ready to take me to meet you, babe,” you answered the question, even though it wasn’t directed at you, your eyes darting to his.

Luis crossed the room and gave you a kiss. He held you at arm’s length. “You look amazing as always carino. Now ready for your surprise?”

The day you landed back in New York was gloomy, misting rain and cold. The leaves had fallen from the trees, leaving a grey, barren landscape. The hot cup of tea in your hand did nothing to warm you. “Blah,” you said as you looked out the large window. When you turned you gasped as you almost ran right into Sonny’s chest. “ Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. What did I say about sneaking up on me, Sonny?”

“Sorry.”

“What do you need?” you asked perturbed as you flicked hot tea off your hand.

He stared at you for a moment. “Just wanted to let you know, it’s going down tomorrow night. I’ll make sure Carmen is safe.”

“I’ll make an excuse to get her out of the house,” you said softly.

“You okay?” Sonny gently ran a hand up and down your arm. “I know this job turned into more than…”

“Ms. Y/L/N. Mr. Saez wanted you to know-” Neither of you heard Cesar come into the room. He looked between the two of you.

Sonny dropped his hand to his side. You recovered quickly. “Thank you. Tripped over my own feet.” Turning your attention to Cesar you asked,  “What does Luis want me to know?”

“Uh-just that he- uh he is had to go out for a couple hours.”

“Thank you, Cesar,” you acknowledged. You turned to Sonny. “Thanks for your help.”

Both men nodded and turned to leave the room. Sonny glanced a look back at you.

“Hey what are you doing?” you asked as you entered Luis’ office. “You didn’t come down for dinner and you’ve been cooped up in your office all day.”

“Not much of an appetite.” He looked at you with heavy eyes while an empty glass tumbler dangled in his hand. “Cesar said he saw you and Sonny yesterday, seemed like he was interrupting things.”

“What are you talking about? Are you drunk, Luis?” In the time you had been with Luis, you never saw him drunk. He had the occasional cocktail, a glass of wine or a couple fingers of bourbon. You sat on the desk in front of him and took the glass.

“I know all about you. You are good,” he laughed mirthlessly. “Tell me. How long have you known Sonny?” He grabbed your hand. “Don’t lie to me, amor.”

You swallowed hard. “What are you talking about?”

He stood framing your body with his arms, his lips close to your ear. “You’re sleeping with him aren’t you? The way he looks at you like he knows what you look like naked. You two have been way too familiar with one another, too comfortable.” His voice was calm and that made you nervous.

“I would never cheat on you. I love you, Luis.”

He straightened. “Fernando.”  Fernando entered the office, pushing Sonny ahead of him. He had been roughed up. Your breath caught. “Sonny. Maybe you can clear things up.”

Sonny’s eyes darted from you to Luis. What the hell was he going to say? How the hell were you going to get Sonny out of this situation?

“It’s all me. She, she rebuffed every advance. Warned me to stop. I didn’t listen,” Sonny’s blue eyes settled on you. “I’m sorry.”

The room was eerily quiet for a few moments. Luis strode over to you and grabbed your face. “Why didn’t you tell me? Answer me,” Luis yelled.

“Let go of her,” Sonny commanded. “Now.”

Luis turned to Sonny. “Who the hell do you think you are?” Luis strode over to him and punched him in the gut. Sonny fell to his knees, holding to his abdomen when Luis delivered a swift kick to his ribs. He pulled his gun and aimed it at Sonny’s head.

“No! Please don’t!” you pleaded. Luis didn’t even turn to look at you. He cocked the gun that was still pointed at Sonny. Fernando grabbed Sonny by the hair.

“Give me one good reason not to blow his fucking head off,” he bellowed. “You disrespect me, my home, my fiancée-”

“I’m UC,” you blurted out. “Sonny, he got suspicious. Confronted me on it. Said he was coming to you.”

Luis turned slowly, the gun now pointing at you. “What did you say?” He grabbed your throat and put you against the wall. Both Sonny and Fernando were behind him, both telling him to put you down. “I fucking trusted you. I told you things I’ve never told anyone.” Luis’ expression went from anger to hurt in a split second and he sat you down. “I love you.”

Air filled your burning lungs as you coughed and gasped for air. If he hadn’t let you go when he did you would have passed out.

In that moment all hell broke loose. Sonny elbowed Fernando in the stomach, knocking him off balance. There was shouting, glass breaking and wood splintering and gunshots from downstairs. The bust was going down just like Sonny told you. Sonny and Fernando were caught up in a struggle for the gun when it went off, the sound deafening. The shot missed both men going into the ceiling. Fernando regained control over the gun.

The next series of events happened so quickly. Luis trained his gun on Sonny once more. With all three men distracted you were able to pull the gun from your waistband. Your first shot was to Fernando and he went down like a ton of bricks.

“Drop the gun, Luis,” you ordered. When he didn’t move or say anything you repeated your order. Luis kept the gun pointed at Sonny.

“Why should I? Whether I shoot him or not, I’m done. I’ve lost my money, my freedom…you,” he cursed.

“Luis. Your mom would be devastated if she lost you. You don’t want to do that to her,” you said evenly. Trying to keep the emotion out of your voice was difficult. “Please. Give me the gun.” You could hear footsteps. “Luis. NYPD and agents are going to be-”

A pain tore through your side. It felt like someone had stabbed you with a hot poker. Your hand was wet with your blood when you pulled it from your side. Cesar had shot you. Another gunshot and Cesar was down too. You crumpled to the ground. Gunshots and yelling erupted in the room. It was getting harder to keep your eyes open.

A voice you recognized was calling your name. “Liv?” you whispered.

“We need medics in here!” she said into her mic. “Hey. No. Lay still,” she ordered softly and held your hand. “It’s okay. You’re going to be okay.”

The harsh fluorescent light made you squint your eyes. Shit. Everything hurt. Even your hair. “Ow. Geez.” You put a hand to your side.

“She’s waking up,” Amanda said to someone. “Hey.” She smiled when you fully opened your eyes. “How ya feelin’?”

“Like I got shot,” you grumbled.

She laughed. “There’s the humor I missed. Welcome back.” She squeezed your hand.

“Wait. Sonny. Is he okay?” Tears were stinging your eyes.

“I’m fine.” Sonny stepped into your line of vision.

“I’m going to step out.” Amanda kissed your temple.

Sonny gestured to the edge of the bed. “Do you mind?”

You were only able to nod your head as you wiped tears from your eyes. “I’m sorry, Sonny. I’m sorry for all the things I said. I’m sorry for any doubt I put in your head, I’m sorry for-for…”

Sonny repositioned himself so he could hold you. “Shhh..hey. It’s okay.”  You buried your face in his chest and let the tears you had been holding back for so long roll down your cheeks and onto Sonny’s soft T-shirt. The feel of his arms around you and his scent brought you some comfort but it also made you sad. He soothed and kissed your hair.

Once your tears subsided you sat up. “So, uh Luis. Is he, is he alive?”

“Yeah. Took a bullet to the shoulder,” he murmured.

You took a deep breath. “What the hell happened?”

“Are you sure you want to do this now?” he asked you softly. You nodded. “Okay. After Cesar shot you, Luis turned his gun and shot him. When everyone came into the room he wouldn’t lower his gun. Liv tagged his shoulder, he shot grazing her shoulder. She’s fine.”

“Sonny?” you sniffed.

“Yeah doll?”

“There was a point when I didn’t know if I wanted out. If you hadn’t come, I’m not sure…thank you for getting me out.”

Sonny sighed. “You’re my partner, my best friend. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”

“Sonny? How do you just stop loving someone.”

He gave a short mirthless laugh. “When I figure it out, you’ll be the first to know.”

Suggestions…

Finishng up the Undercover Series. Want some input from readers on how would you like to see this series end. I have three different endings.

Does the reader stay loyal to the NYPD? If she does, how do you see things going down? Does he find out she is undercover or does he not find out until after the bust? How is Sonny’s and readers relationship affected?

Or maybe the reader does flip and stays with Luis? Does Sonny stay?(I know, way OOC…) Do they flee the country? What happens when he finds out the truth? Does he make her prove her loyalty?

What other ideas do y’all have? Either comment here, or drop me a suggestion. I may even use and post two seperate endigs.

Undercover Part 2

A few days later you wanted to go into town to the farm market for some fresh produce. It would be closing for the season soon. You planned to make apple butter and possibly a pie. Luis was readying himself for work when you told him your plan for the day. He moved around the bedroom in just his suit pants and shirt hanging open showing off his washboard abs with his tie hanging around his neck haphazardly.

“You’re staring, carina,” Luis remarked with a grin and started buttoning his shirt.

“Sorry. Just can’t help myself.” You climbed out of bed. “Here let me,” you offered, motioning to his tie.

“You’re so beautiful.” Luis looked down at you with sincere eyes.

“You’re not so bad yourself,” you responded, then gave him a wonk.  “There. Perfect,” you said. You patted his chest. “Want anything from the farmers market?”

“Some jams or jellies and whatever fresh veggies look good.” He leaned down and kissed your temple. “Take Cesar and one of the new guys,” he instructed.  “I love you, Y/N.” He wrapped you in his arms and kissed you deeply.

“I love you too, Luis,” you responded after he broke away.

Sonny followed you as you wandered around the market. It was the first interaction you had with him since he had arrived. A shopping basket of fresh vegetables, apples and jams hung from your arm. He had been quiet all afternoon, which was a nominally for Sonny Carisi.

“You got everything you need?” The way he asked the question you knew he wasn’t talking about the items in your basket.

“More or less,” you informed him. “Just a few more things.”

“Here. Let carry that for ya,” he offered and reached for the basket.

“No thank you. I can manage,” you answered quickly.

“Yeah. I’m sure you can. Seem to managin’ things pretty well,” he concluded in a sarcastic tone.

Sonny stopped abruptly when you spun on your heel to face him. “You’ve been here for five days and that’s the only thing you have to say to me? I don’t know what you think you know, Dominick but you don’t know a damn thing,” you spat.

“I know that you’re screwing him,” he shot back in a low whisper. “You’re in love with him.”

“What are you jealous? It was one night, hence the name one night stand.” You thought back to that night. It had been a blur of drinks, a steamy cab ride back to Sonny’s apartment, making love all night, then you sneaking out the next morning without saying goodbye. That was the last time you had seen Sonny until a few days ago.

“Just didn’t realize you were so ‘friendly,” he said his voice laced with disdain.

“Fuck you, Dominick.” You shoved past him to pay for your items. Sonny trailed behind you.

Cesar opened the SUV door. “You okay Ms. Y/L/N?” He looked between you an Sonny.

“Just not feeling well. Thank you for your concern,” you replied and gave him a tight smile.

“Ouch! Shit! ” you exclaimed as the sharp knife cut through the pad of your thumb. You grabbed a dish towel, wrapped it around your thumb and held pressure. “Sorry about the language, Mama.”

Carmen, Luis’ mother waved it off and ushered you to the sink. She unwrapped the towel and ran cold water over the cut. “Oh mija. This looks bad. You need to see the doctor,” Carmen concluded. She took the first aid kit from under the sink and used the gauze to wrap it.

“Everything okay ladies?” Cesar asked. “I heard a scream.”

“Y/N cut her finger. I think it needs stitches,” Carmen informed him.

“I’ll pull the car around,” Cesar said.

“Really it’s not necess-”

“Nonsense. I’ll call Luis, let him know,” Carmen reassured you.

“Okay. Thank you Mami,” you smiled at the kind woman.

She kissed your cheek and walked you to the door.

To your surprise, it was Sonny opening the door to the SUV. “I thought Cesar was taking me.”

“You’re stuck with me,” he said with plastered on smile.

“Splendid.” You returned the same fake smile that you were given.

“Hey uh, I wanna apologize for what I said earlier. I was way outta line. I don’t think-” He was silent for a few moments. Sonny met your gaze in the rearview mirror. “I’ve missed you.”

“Me too,” you replied softly as you fought back tears.

Luis was all but running through the doors as you were leaving the exam room.

Relief flooded his face. “Mama said you cut your thumb pretty bad. Said you were making an apple pie.” It was his favorite pie and you knew he had been looking forward to it all day.

“Seven stitches,” you informed him, showing your bandage as you gave him a thumbs up. “I think the pie may be ruined. Sorry babe.”

He hugged you to his chest. “Don’t worry about the pie. I’m just happy to hear you have all your fingers,” he said in a teasing tone.

The dull throb from your thumb woke you. A glance at the digital clock told you it was 2 AM. Luis wasn’t in bed, which wasn’t too unusual. He didn’t sleep much. Most times you found him alone on the patio smoking a cigar, deep in thought. And that’s where you found him tonight.

“Hey you,” you said softly, pulling your robe around you staving off the crisp Autumn air. Luis had a fire going in the outside fireplace.

“Mi amor. Come. Sit.” He patted the space beside him on the lounger. You did as requested and curled into his side.

“I didn’t mean to bother you. I know you’ve had a lot on your mind lately.”

“You are never a bother,” he said reassuringly. One arm wrapped around your upper half. He gently caressed your arm and placed a tender kiss to your injured thumb. He snubbed out his cigar. “Wish it could always be like this, just me and you.”

“That would be nice,” you confirmed. It would be. If only Luis wasn’t a drug dealing sex trafficker and you weren’t an undercover detective. Why couldn’t have things been different. Perhaps another time, another place.

Sonny was right, you were in love with Luis and you didn’t know what you were going to do. You sighed and snuggled in closer to Luis’ chest. You’d deal with that when the time came. You knew that time was coming soon…

something where the reader ends up getting in trouble during an undercover stint and sonny is sent in to try and help her but it ends up just being a Shit Storm

//Part 1. I will release additional parts over the next couple of days//

“Somethin’ is wrong, Lieu. I  know it. Luis Saez is a dangerous man,” Sonny said as he paced in front of Olivia’s desk. “She checks in every month. It’s been two months and no word.”

“Carisi just relax. You know from experience that you can’t always make that promised call. She’s been under for almost a year now. She’s missed one check-”

“Two check-ins. Lieu. She missed two,” Sonny’s tone was biting.

Olivia removed her glasses and placed them on her desk. She studied Sonny for a few moments and took a deep breath. “Okay, Carisi. We’ll try to get surveillance on her.” Sonny started to speak but Olivia held a hand up. “Under no circumstances will you be participating.”

“Fine. But if you come up empty handed or somethin’ is wrong, I’m going in for her.” Sonny turned in his heel and stormed out of Liv’s office and the precinct.

“Hey, Carisi. What was that all about?” Fin questioned Sonny when he caught up to him down the sidewalk.

“Y/N hasn’t checked in for two months. I’m the only one who seems to notice or care around here.”

“That’s not true. You know that,” Fin shot back a bit defensively.

“Sorry. I’m just…scared. She’s my partner and best friend. I just have this nagging feelin’ in the pit of my stomach, ya know.” Sonny continued to walk with Fin beside him.

“What did Liv say?”

“That she tries to get surveillance on her.” Sonny ran his fingers through his hair. “But told me I couldn’t be involved.” Sonny gave Fin a yeah right smile.

“That’s what I thought. I got your back,” Fin stated. “You tell me where and when.”

“You know what I hate?” Luis said as he came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist. “When I have to go away and leave you looking like you do this evening.”

“Cancel,” you grinned at his reflection in the mirror while you caressed his forearms. “We could get takeout and stay in bed all weekend.”

“I wish I could mi Amor. I need to make sure my assets are…being taken care of,” he turned you in his arms. “I don’t want you going out alone. Understand?” He tipped your chin up.

There was a different look in his eyes. One you had seen before but never was directed at you. It unnerved you. “Of course. Whatever you say.” You went to tiptoe to kiss him. “Be careful, please.”

“I always am. I’ll see you tomorrow evening. Fernando will be staying behind with you.” Luis slipped his watch on his wrist, put his cell in his jacket pocket then turned to leave the room.

“I love you, Luis,” you called to him.

His hand rested on the doorknob as he turned back to you. “My cup runneth over carina.”

When Luis reached the front room he called Fernando to him. “Watch her. She’s not to be out of your sight,” he commanded.

“Yes, sir,” Fernando acknowledged.

Three days later, Liv called Sonny into her office. “Sit,” Liv offered and waved a hand to one of the leather covered chairs across from her.

“I’d rather stand I ya don’t mind,” Sonny declined. “What did you find out about Y/N?”

“It’s not good. She’s okay but-”

“But what?”

“She’s in deep. Our source said she is in a relationship with the target,” Liv revealed.

“A relationship? What does that mean? Like she’s with him?”

“It’s all part of the UC, Carisi,” Liv reassured him. “She’s safe, Carisi. That’s the best we can ask for. Plus she’s close to getting the intel we need.” She pushed a file toward him.

When Sonny opened the file there was picture after picture of you and Luis. There were pics of Luis meeting with suspected drug dealers, distributors, and associates. The other pictures were mostly of you.  Getting in an SUV with Luis, you having lunch with an older woman identified as Luis’ mother, you in a bikini sunbathing beside a pool with Luis leaning over kissing you.

Then the pictures Sonny wished he hadn’t seen. They were intimate. Luis and you kissing, carrying you to bed and while you were having sex.

“Jesus,” Sonny breathed. “I know you said she’s in deep but I didn’t realize.” He had to figure out a way to get you out, while in the back of his mind wondering if you wanted out.

“How was your day?” you asked Luis when he came through the front door. “I made pasta carbonara for dinner.”

“My day was productive. I trust you had an uneventful day,” Luis said and kissed your cheek. “Dinner smells delicious. I just need to make a quick call then I’ll be out.” He walked into his office followed by Fernando, his chief of security.

While Luis was in his office, you set the table and dished both of your plates. It was time to get out, you knew that. You had become too attached, too involved. Some days you had to remind yourself that the relationship wasn’t real, that it was all an act. The sad part is that is was the most stable and functional relationships you ever had. You chuckled to yourself.

“You know we have a personal chef. Cooking isn’t necessary,” Luis insisted as he forked the last of his pasta and made a satisfied face. “Your cooking is delicious though,” he concluded and gave you a wink,

“I enjoy it,” you said. “You take such good care of me that I like to return the favor.”

“I do my best,” he smiled. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to protect what is mine.”

After dinner, Luis worked in his office. You were curled up in one of the leather chairs facing the crackling fire reading a book when there was a knock at the door. “Come in,” Luis called. Taking a sip of chamomile tea, you didn’t bother to look up from your book. Luis never asked you to leave during meetings, so you were privy to some very interesting information.

It wasn’t unusual for Luis to have meetings in the evenings, and the staff was in and out of the office. “Sorry to bother you. Fernando has the additional security here when you’re ready to meet them,” Cesar informed him.

“Send them in,” Luis directed.

Your ears perked up when he said additional security. Sitting the book down, you walked over to Luis. “Is everything okay? Why the need for extra security?” you gave him a concerned look.

“Not to worry, muneca. Just being a little extra cautious. I’m securing a deal with the Rivera family. Just want to be sure all goes smooth,” he said reassuringly.

“I’ll try to stop worrying but no promises,” you said. You leaned down to kiss him as the office door opened and several men filed in behind Cesar.

Luis rose from his high back desk chair, took your hand and crossed the room. He was dressed casually in a pair of tan linen pants and a white body-hugging T-shirt. Even barefoot he towered over you by a foot. He put an arm around your waist and pulled into his side protectively.

Your jaw almost hit the floor when you saw Sonny Carisi standing in front of you. He looked different with a beard and more casual hair. His eyes locked with yours and gave you a disapproving look. You raised an arched eyebrow in his direction.

“Gentlemen. This is Y/N, my fiance. Each of your will be assigned to either Y/N, myself or my mother who also lives here. They are your number one priorities, even over myself. Their safety and well being are what is most important to me. Do we have an understanding?”

The men all nodded and said ‘yes, sir’. Sonny’s eyes darted to the ring on your left hand. He met your gaze again, ever so slightly shook his head and smirked. It was like you could read his mind. He thought you flipped, you just didn’t realize all he did know about your relationship with Luis.
