Sonny is so protective and sometimes it gets lost under the easy smile and outgoing personality. Push come to shove, though, and he’s not afraid to make his point clear. Especially when it comes to looking after you or his family. After a couple of days of your ex texting you and trying to message you on social media you finally break down and tell Sonny. He couls tell something’s wrong anyway because you’ve been so tense.
After you finally tell him he does some digging. Yeah, it’s not strictly legal, but in this case he couldn’t care less. He founds out where your ex lives and where they work. At first he tells himself he’ll just keep an eye on things, not interfere at all. But after you call him halfway to a panic attack after your ex left a voicemail he changes his mind. He tells Olivia he has an emergency and he grabs his suit jacket in a hurry out of the precinct.
He heads over to where your ex works and his timing couldn’t be better. They’re taking out the trash in the back and Sonny slips into the alley behind them. Your ex startles when they see Sonny as they go to head back into work, but then flashes Sonny a smile. Sonny isn’t the most intimidating looking person initially, after all–all three piece suits and lanky. The smile becomes a little more uneasy as Sonny refuses to smile back and pauses before opening his mouth.
“Listen. You don’t know who I am, but I know exactly who you are. I know where you work and I know where you live. I’ve got NYPD on my side, so trust me when I say you do not want to test me on this,” Sonny begins as he stabs a finger in your ex’s face and backs them up against the wall. “Stop calling. Stop texting. Stop messaging. Lose their number. Unfollow them, unfriend them. If I find out that you’ve been harassing my partner further then you’ll have even more than NYPD to be afraid of. Do you understand me?”
Your ex nods meekly and Sonny waits a long moment, brow furrowed in anger, before backing up and letting them by to scurry back into work. “Oh, by the way,” Sonny calls after them. They turn nervously to look back at him. “I’d pay those parking tickets if I were you. Be a shame if your car ended up in a city lot somewhere.” Sonny smirks before striding back the way he came.
A week later and you finally feel like you can breathe easy. Sonny didn’t mention anything about your ex, but he came home a week ago and something was…off. That night his hands were everywhere, like he couldn’t get enough of you and he kept muttering about how he’d protect you. It occurs to you that he must have done something. You can’t imagine your Sonny doing anything too violent, but he had to have made an impression. You finally ask him about it one night in bed cautiously.
“Hey, Sonny?” you begin lightly. “Hmm?” he hums from above you. You tighten your grip around his waist from where you’re laying on his chest. “I haven’t heard anything from my ex in awhile. Did you…do something?” you ask nervously. He tensed slightly before relaxing again. He brings up a hand to massage your temples and smooth back your hair before replying. “I handled it, doll. That’s all you need to know. I’ll always take care of you.”
