Nick had his hands under you as you floated on your back in the pool. Your eyes were closed as he gently pulled you through the water and you smiled to yourself.
“What are you smiling about?” Nick asked and you blinked your eyes open to look up into his face. He had a wide grin and you reached out to grab for him, straightening up and wrapping your hands around his shoulders.
“Thinking about you,” you told him softly as you angled your face in closer to his. He bit his bottom lip and brought up a thumb to tap gently on your bottom lip, eyes tracing over your face.
“Yeah? Thinking about how great I am?” Nick asked, half joking, but you just gave him a soft look.
“Yeah,” you breathed, leaning in to kiss him gently as he gripped your hip firmly and drew your legs around his waist. “I’m thinking about how great you are. Was thinking about how good you are at making me smile, at surprising me. I hate surprises you know. You’re the only one who ever manages to surprise me with something I like. I can’t believe I get to be your wife,” you said before kissing him again. He smiled into the kiss before deepening it, gripping the back of your head as he walked you backwards towards one of the walls of the pool. He held you gently in place with his hips as he brought a hand to your waist to pull you into another open mouthed kiss.
“Love you,” he murmured between kisses and you smiled and pulled back, looking up in his eyes. He held your gaze steadily, a relaxed and happy look on his face that had you bringing up a hand to brush over his face.
“Te amo,” you replied and he licked into your mouth again, this time pressing you more firmly against the pool edge. “Wait, let me get a picture,” you panted as you pulled off, already twisting back to reach for your pool that was within arm’s distance by the edge of the pool.
“Of what?” Nick asked with a baffled look as you made a triumphant noise as you gripped your phone, turning back around in his grip.
“Of this, silly. You and me in the pool on our honeymoon. Hmm, maybe we should move away from the edge, get a nicer background. Think you can hold me up with one arm?” you asked as you handed him the phone and pushed back slightly from the pool’s edge. He shot you an exasperated look even as he took the phone with one hand and stretched out an arm around you with the other.
“Of course I can hold you up, don’t be ridiculous,” he groused and at his indignant face you laughed before kissing him on the nose. You two treaded back slightly and you angled your face up towards the sun as you gripped his shoulders tightly.
“Okay, I think this is a good angle,” you confirmed and he took aim. You looked over at him and he was making a serious expression which you copied for one shot before kissing him on the cheek for another. He kept the phone held high and captured when you pulled him into a full kiss before throwing back your head in laughter.
“Alright, one more. Looking at the camera. Smile for me?” you asked and looked at you and gave you a brilliant smile before aiming it up at phone and clicking once more.
“No! No! Diego, stop, that is not fair!” you shrieked with laugher as you tried to shake him off where he had latched onto you. You and Nick were visiting Miami for Diego’s house warming party and at some point water guns had gun come out. Not a huge surprise considering it was Diego, but now he was using you as a human shield so that Nick couldn’t get him with a super soaker.
“Release my wife if you know what’s good for you,” Nick warned as he primed the soaker with a look of concentration on his face. Diego shifted his hold so that he was more or less hugging you from behind and you were unable to squirm out of his grip.
“Stop hugging me! I can’t believe you’re using me as a shield,” you admonished with laughter as you continued to try to plant your feet and wiggle out of his grip. You slid on the damp grass and Diego hoisted you up to carry you close to the pool.
“He won’t shoot you so you’re my only chance at safety,” Diego shouted into your ear and you shot an elbow back into his stomach in response. He oofed, but didn’t let you go. “Listen, Amaro! Set down the gun and no one has to get hurt!” he called to Nick around a laugh. You gave Nick a pleading look as he stepped closer.
“Sweetheart, you know I wouldn’t let anything happen to you, right?” Nick asked you, ignoring Diego. You nodded your head as he took another few steps forward and Diego dragged you closer to the pool. “And you remember that I was a lifeguard and that I’d never even let you come close to drowning, right?” Nick asked with an encouraging nod. Catching on to his plan you sent him a pleading look. “You know that, right?” Nick prompted when you didn’t respond and you reluctantly nodded. “Alright, so hold your breath because—” and before he finished his sentence he broke out in a run and tackled both you and Diego into the pool.
Before you even had a chance to panic he was gripping you with both hands and pushing you to the surface before wrapping a firm arm around your waist and pulling you into his hip. With the other arm he was managing to hold a spluttering Diego off as he shunted water in his face. Nick twisted so that he got the brunt of Diego’s return attack and you shrieked and laughed as you found yourself in the middle of a water fight. Nick’s grip on you never faltered and a wide grin stretched his face.
