I love how all of the posts for this past week was Mike Dodds related. But what was the wedding like for Dodds x reader?

“Y/N. Can I talk to you? Privately”, William requested softly. You were finishing your hair and make up for the ceremony when he come to talk to you.

“Yeah. Sure.”

Turning your attention to him, you studied his face. Things had been a little tense between the two of you since he found out you were pregnant.

William offered his arm to you, surprisingly. You slipped your arm through his and he smiled. “I’ve been, well, as  Anne put it, a jackass. And she couldn’t be more right.” Your eyebrows shot up at his confession. “The only thing I could think of was what people would think instead of seeing how happy this baby and you have made Mike. I said some not nice things, and I want to apologize.”

Taking in a deep breath, you willed yourself not to cry. “Thank you. We are happy, very happy. And that’s all I’ve ever wanted for Michael.”

“Me too.” He kissed the top of your head.

Soft light filtered through the leaves as the sun started to set behind the trees. You and Mike had decided on a small ceremony in Central Park. Only 10 people in attendance, including you and Mike. You hadn’t seen Mike since this morning. Now, gazing down the walkway at him, you actually had butterflies. He was so handsome. Mike wore a navy shirt and pants, sleeves rolled up with a thin light blue and silver tie.
The smile on your face has to look ridiculous, but you couldn’t help it, you were over the moon happy. Tears welled in your eyes as your dad kissed your cheek before placing your hand in Mike’s.

Mike’s eyes were glassy, he whispered, “you absolutely stunning. And your dress, just, wow.” You had been fortunate to find a dress in such a short time, and Anne for doing the alterations. It was simple ¾ sleeve, off white, silk and form fitting. But what wasn’t at this stage in your pregnancy.
The officiant began speaking but all you could concentrate on was Mike’s beautiful face.

When it was time for vows, Mike went first. His voice wavered a bit as he began but grew more confident as he spoke. “When I met you, I knew right away that you were the one for me. You are the finest, lovliest, tenderest and most beautiful person I know. In you I found my biggest fan and toughest critic. With you I know my heart is safe as is yours with mine. I promise to cherish you, be faithful to you and be by your side through all of life’s trials and tribulations. You make me happy in a way no one else ever has before. You will never know a day without love. I’m honored to love you and be loved by you.” Mike swiped at his eyes before placing the platinum band on your finger.

“I can’t imagine what my life would be without you, and I hope I never have to. You are my today and all of my tomorrows. I promise to be faithful, supportive and cherish you. I will dream with you, build with you and encourage you. You always make me feel beautiful, loved and protected. Your heart is my home and your arms my shelter. My world begins and ends with you. Thank you for sharing this life with me and no matter how crazy this life may get, know one thing, I love you.” Mike held his hand out to you and you slipped the thick platinum band on his finger.

You and Mike locked eyes, both grinning like fools. “You may kiss the bride!” Mike pulled you closer to him and gave you a deep, passionate kiss. Everyone started clapping, your mom and Anne were dabbing at their eyes. Mike leaned down and placed a tender kiss to your belly.

After the ceremony, a delicious dinner was held at The Pierre Hotel overlooking Central Park. As the evening wound down, you started saying good byes. You and Mike were going to have breakfast with your parents and brothers before they flew back to Ohio tomorrow. Yawning you gave Mike a sleepy smile.

“One more thing before we go up to our room, Mrs. Dodds.” Mike held his hand out to you, “dance with me.”

“It would be my pleasure Mr. Dodds” taking his hand he helped you to your feet he started singing to you. (Mike is a phenomenal singer, obviously)

“But I can’t help, falling in love with you.” He spun you around a couple times making you giggle. When he was done singing, he nuzzled your neck. “Ready to start our honeymoon, my love?”

Fine. Go. ‘Fin’.

*This is a long one.*

“Hey. We’re landing.” Mike gently stoked your arm. He reached over you and fastened your belt.

“M’kay”, you mumbled. Your head was resting on his shoulder. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.” Sitting upright you glanced at Mike. He looked as exhausted as you felt. “What time is it?”

“It’s okay, you falling asleep on me.” Mike shifted uncomfortably in his seat and cleared his throat. He fiddled with his wedding ring. “It’s late, almost 11.”

“Is it okay if I stay at the house tonight? I dont want to wake anyone at your dad’s.” Anne and William had flown with the kids to and from Ohio for your dads funeral.

“Y/N it’s your home. You dont have to ask to stay there.” Hearing the hurt in his voice made you flinch. Mike made himself busy straightening his shirt and adjusting his watch.

Once the plane landed, Mike grabbed your carry-ons, thankfully you didn’t have to wait on checked luggage. He took your hand as you made your way through the airport. “Dad brought the car over earlier.”

Mike opened your car door, then put the bags in the trunk. “I might have to go in for a little bit tomorrow”, Mike informed you.

“Sure. I get it. You’ve been out a week” you said timidly. “Hard to see the stars tonight.” Resting your head in your hand you continued looking through the window.

Mike dropped the bags in the foyer and toed off his shoes. There was an awkward silence as the two of you stood just looking at one another. He let out a breath, “Join me for a nightcap?” Nodding, you followed him to the kitchen.

Mike pulled two glasses from the cabinet and dropped a couple cubes of ice into each. After he splashed in some bourbon, he slid one over to you. Sitting in silence for a few minutes, you relished the burn as the bourbon slid down your throat.

“Thanks for everything you have done the last week.” You gave Mike a small smile. He had got the last two seats on a late night flight to get you back to Ohio to say good bye to your dad, picked family up from the airport, helped you and your mom plan the service, served as pallbearer. He was your rock, his hand only letting go of yours when necessary,

“Did you realize the date?” You swirled the melting ice in your glass, afraid to meet his eyes. Instinctively, your hand went to your belly.

“Yeah, yeah. Your due date, how can I forget?.” Mike said barely a whisper. “Strange how a date on a calendar can change your whole life.” Reaching across the bar, he placed his hand over yours.

Tears pricked the back of your eyes. “Why did we never really talk about it after we left the hospital? Why did both of us try to pretend it never happened?”

“That was one of the worst days of my life. I was lost. I buried it so deep because I didn’t want to hurt anymore. I wanted to talk to you, but I thought ‘what if this is the one minute she isn’t thinking about it and I reopen that wound’. So I just pushed it down deeper, pushed you away so I wouldn’t hurt you, which is just ridiculous.” Mike almost looked relieved after his confession. HIs eyes were still so full of pain and guilt.

“Wow, Mike. I had no idea. I thought maybe the problem was me. I wasn’t getting over it. You have no idea how many times I’d wait for you to get home so I could talk to you. Then stop myself beacause I didn’t want to burden you with more problems. I could feel us slipping apart but I was so tired, depressed and numb that I stopped trying, or caring. It was like one day I woke up and saw how bad things were but I thought they were too far gone to fix.” You buried your face in your hands.

Mike came around the counter, “Hey. C’mere.” He spun you around on the stool, facing him. Pulling you from the stool, he cocooned you in his arms. “God, I am so sorry Y/N. I am. There are so many things I wish I could go back and change.” He rocked you gently side to side as you held on to the back of his shirt like your life depended on it, and at that moment, you felt like it did.

“You still feel guilty about that night, don’t you?” Looking up into his face you already had your answer.

“Some days I do, others I don’t. Deep down I know it isn’t my fault but there all these ‘what if’s’ that go through my mind.” He let out a breath.

“Yeah, I do the same.” You paused for a second, “I’m sorry I left.” The tears that had threatened were now spilling down your cheeks.

Mike gently wiped the tears away with his finger. “Don’t be sorry. I think it was the best thing to do. It sure as hell opened my eyes. And after some of the things I said that night, I don’t blame you for leaving. I was hurting and I wanted you to hurt as bad as I was. I have never wished I had never married you. I don’t-”

Raising up on tip toe you planted a passionate kiss on Mike’s soft, wet lips. Me let out a little groan and pulled you closer to him as you snaked your arms around his neck. God you had missed this mans touch. You broke away first. Both of you breathing hard. “Whoa”, you breathed out.

“Ditto”, Mike replied and smiled at you. “I, uh, I” he scratched the back of his head. His trademark nervous habit. “I was hoping you’d sleep with me tonight. I just want to hold you. Well I’d like to do more than that but..”

You giggled, “I understand. I’ve missed your arms around me at night and snuggling up to your back. So tonight, let’s just hold one another.”

                                          3 months later

“Michael William Dodds don’t you dare!”, you squealed as he picked you up. Mike was about to toss you into the pool at the resort.

“I never turn down a dare!” He chuckled. You had just enough time to hold your breath before your hot body plunge into the cold water. When you surfaced, Mike was laughing. You swam over to the side of the pool and climbed out, giving him a dirty look as you did. “Ahh, come on. Don’t be mad, babe”

You smirked at him as you approached him. Putting your arms around his waist you said, “I don’t get mad, I get even.” You pulled him into the pool with you. When the two of you surfaced, MIke grabbed you and wrapped your legs around his waist.

“I love you so incredibly much Y/N. Thank you for taking another chance with me.” He softly kissed your wet lips.

“I love you too, Champ. Ready to go back to our room?” you waggled your eyebrows.

“Like you have to ask.” Mike scoffed.

Grinning at your husband you sighed. The last couple of years had been hard, with the last few months being the worst. You and Mike had come a long way with the help of counseling, both as a couple and individuals, lots of support from our families. One of the things you and Mike do every night, no matter how late or how tired is talk. About big things, little things, good news and bad. There was still work for the two of you but the future looked much brighter.

Doddverse OC’s

-Mike and wife/reader met in a bar (neither of their blind dates worked out)

-Wife is a nurse but has been a stay at home mom since they moved to New York

– Dated for almost seven years before they got married. Wife was seven months pregnant when they married.

-They have two kids-

Isaac Michael-4 years old He is a wild spirit and super smart. He looks exactly like Mike.

Cora Danae- 2 years old. She has her dad’s hazel eyes. She is shy and quiet, for a 2 year old anyway.

Have you done how Mike proposed to Reader? I feel like I’ve devoured everything Mike you’ve written, but I haven’t found that.

//My friend, I have been waiting for someone to ask. Just a reminder of how they met HERE. //

The last rays of the sun were filtering through the intricate framework of the concert venue. The Grant Park Orchastra was set to perform Broadway hits. You and Mike were lounging on a blanket on the plush lawn.

“This is nice.” You were leaning against Mike “Thank you for making it happen.” The picnic Mike packed had been delicious.

One of Mike’s hand rested on your barely protrudung belly, the other was entwined in your hand. “You are more than welcome love. Life is so crazy, we really need to slow down. Make more time for one another.”

“Are you okay, Mike? You seem….off?” You turned in his arms to be able to see his face.

The lines around his eyes were tight, “I’ve been thinking a lot about us, all three of us actually. “Uhhh…” He ran his hands through his hair. He took your hand and assissted you to stand.

You cocked your head, “You’re worrying me. What are-” When he went to one knee you gasped, your other hand covering your mouth.

“The first night I met you I knew that was it for me Y/N. You are my today and all of my tomorrows. I can’t wait to see what advantures and memories we make together. Your heart was made for me, and my heart beats only for you. And now you are giving me the most precious gift, a child. My heart couldn’t be any fuller. Will you marry me?”

All you could do was nod enthusiastically, happy tears spilled down your face. Finally you eeked out yes and an Inlove you. Applause and hoots broke out in the crowd that had gathered.

Mike placed the ring on your finger and stood. His eyes wet with tears. Tipping your chin up, he kissed you, making your toes curl.

Before you knew it you were wrapped in his arms, feet dangling while he spun you around.

When he placed you on your feet he shouted, “She said yes!“ He punched a fist in the air.

“That was kind of hot.” with mike?

“So tell us how you and Mike met, Y/N”, Amanda inquired. Everyone had been exchanging stories of how they met their significant other. “Did he dazzle you with flexing his muscles?” Amanda giggled.

“Oh something like that. The story is sort of boring.” Shrugging your shoulders. “We met in a bar on a blind date.”

Mike came from the kitchen with a fresh drink. He had caught the tail end of the conversation. “That was the craziest date I had ever been on up to that night.” He shook his head remembering.

The group shot you a questioning look. “Hmmm… sounds like Y/N might be holdin’ back some juicy details”, Sonny added. “Dish.” Rafael rolled his eyes and smacked his boyfriends leg.

Turning your gaze to Mike, “would you like to take this one babe?” He loved telling the story, he thought it was funny.

His face lit up and he rubbed his hands together. “So as Y/N said it was a blind date setup by my dad and her mom. Anyway, I was running late. When I got to the bar I see this one here had some guy up against the bar, arm wrenched around his back.” Mike starts laughing remembering the first time he saw you.

All eyes turn to you. Pressing your lips against your bottle you just raised your eyebrows. Mike’s eyes were shining and you couldn’t help but smile. “Here’s the twist. We weren’t set up with one another.” Giving a wink to your husband.

“Yeah. My date apparently got tired of waiting and left. Y/N’s here date was the one she had pinned against the bar.” He started laughing again and you just shook your head. “I decide I’m going to help the “damsel in distress”, right cause everyone else is just standing around. I walk up and the guy is in tears, begging for her to let go.”

“He kept grabbing me and saying nasty things. I told him to stop. The last time he touched me, I had enough. My dad and brothers are all ex-military or cops, so I know a few moves.” You concluded.

“I wanted to marry her that night. I mean that was kinda hot.” Mike smirked then said, “at least I got to take her home with me that night. The last part, that’s my favorite part of the story.” He gave a drunken smile.  Whistles, whoas, ow’s and claps followed Mike’s confession.

“Okay Michael, you are cut off.” You chided him but smiled. Leaning over to kiss his cheek you whispered in his ear, “it’s my favorite part too.”
