“She has so much hair,” Mike remarked as he laid Cora down in the middle of your bed. “And so happy.”

“That hair is 100% Dodds genes,” you said and reached up to ruffle Mike’s already floppy hair. “I didn’t have hair until I was a year old according to my mom.”

He chuckled. “I think that’s the only attribute she got from me. Thankfully she didn’t get my nose.” He stretched out beside Cora. You followed suit, on the opposite side.

“I happen to love your nose,” you said as you leaned over and kissed the tip of his nose.

comes between before the wedding & sonny’s vows

Your eyes were laser focused on Sonny as you walked down the aisle. All jokes of tripping flew out of your head, by this point you couldn’t even feel your feet. Everything was numb except for your face which was heating up under Sonny’s incredulous and weighted gaze. You saw him shift and duck his head briefly, trying to get his emotions under control. Giving him a watery grin you managed a wink which made him choke out a laugh. Whatever went on around you, whatever the priest was saying and your parents were responding to you couldn’t have told anyone if they had a gun to your head.

The only thing you saw was Sonny.

The only thing you could hear was his choppy breathing.

The only thing you could feel was his slightly clammy hands gripping for life at yours.

“You look so handsome,” you said quietly with whole hearted sincerity, taking in the tux and the hair and the way the tie made his eyes even more rich in hue.

“Look at you! You look incredible,” he responded in a choked up voice. You willed him not to cry, knowing it would only set you over the edge.
