“Hey, Y/N. It’s me. Open the door please.” Hearing Nick’s voice you jumped from the couch. His arms were weighed down with grocery bags. “Hope you don’t mind we stay in,” he gives you a quick peck on the cheek and heads to the kitchen. Following him into the kitchen, you pour two glasses of wine and  hop up to sit on the counter.

“Whatcha making?” you ask as he takes things out of the bags and grabs pans and cooking utensils.

 “Ropa vieja,” he looks at you for your reaction. Scrunching up your nose, he laughs. “Trust me cariño, you’ll love it.” 

“Hmm..ok. Tell me what you need me to do,” you ask while swinging your feet. 

“Drink your wine and relax. You always cook for us, I want to do this for you.”  

“Can I at least watch?” You loved watching him move around the kitchen.

He comes to stand between your legs and runs his hands up your bare thighs, “Mmmm..I don’t think so. You’’ll distract me and we won’t eat until midnight. And I am starving.”

He picks you up and places you gently on your feet. “Go. Watch some reality TV, or cooking show or whatever it is you watch when I’m not here.” Turning to leave he swats your bottom. Letting out a yelp, you turn and narrow your eyes, he gives you a wink in return. 

An hour later a mouth-watering aroma fills your senses. “That smells so good babe!”

 Nick spins around, “Perfect timing. Can you set the table, please?”

 Nick sets the food in the middle on the table, “Dig in, mi amor.” You put heaping spoons of meat and beans onto your plate. 

“Mmmm..this is so good. Thank you for making dinner.” You put more food on your plate.

A big smile breaks across his face, “you are very welcome.” 

“You cooked, I’ll clean up,” you state as you grab the plates and head to the kitchen. 

Nick follows and leans against the doorway. He clears his throat, “you know, if we move in together, we could do this”, he gestures between the two of you, “every night.” Your breath catches and you look down at your hands. “Say something. Please cariño. You are worrying me.” 

Looking up at him through tears, you begin nodding your head enthusiastically, unable to talk. Nick rushes to you, picks you up and twirls you around. “You have made me so incredibly happy!” 

You giggle and say, “the dishes can wait,” planting a bruising kiss to his lips. You wrap your legs around his waist and deepen the kiss.

 “Time for dessert,” he growls and carries you to the bedroom.
