I think sonny loves being a dom sometimes (imo he’s a switch) because it helps him feel in control, but even more than that, it lets him know that he’s trusted. he understands acutely that the power he holds has been surrendered because you trust everything he’s going to do. he gets off on that trust + power play more than almost anything.

You awoke to voices in the living room and stretched as you took a look around the bedroom. It wasn’t weird waking up without Sonny, he often got up before you, but it was weird knowing why you were waking up without him. The voices were indistinct to you, although you recognized Sonny’s rumble. By the quietness of the response you had to guess Matty was the other person in the house.You turned over and punched the pillow into a more comfortable shape as you heard the front door open and close softly. It meant you’d probably have the house to yourself a ll day because more than likely Sonny had left with Matty to take care of some club business.

A gentle knock on the bedroom startled you out of near slumber again and you automatically reached for the gun in the bedside table before you heard Sonny’s voice.

“It’s me, doll. You up?” Sonny called softly.

It was soft enough that if you had been asleep you probably wouldn’t have heard it. Sonny had a knack for moving around the house quietly because he knew just how much you needed to get your sleep when you had a day off. You contemplated laying there in bed and not responding, but you had always been bad at denying him anything.
