– First Peter does everything he can do so as not to trigger a nightmare.
– When he wakes up and you are in the middle of a nightmare, he draws you close to his chest. He says comforting things in your ear, I got you, I love you, you’re okay, etc.
– when he wakes and you’re not in bed, he comes looking for you. He’ll watch TV, take a bath with you, whatever you need.
– he will softly sing, or read to you. Just hearing him talk helps you calm down and get back to sleep.
– Putting your hand over his heart. The steady rhythm helps ease your mind and gives you something to concentrate on, other than your nightmare.
-SEX. That always gets your mind off the nightmare 😉
