“Sonny, you said we need to be there at noon! We’re going to be late!” Sophia called from the living room. Sonny was usually always ready before Sophia but today, he was extra nervous.
“Do I look alright, doll?” Sonny asked. He was fixing his hair in the mirror as Sophia rolled her eyes and smiled.
“Sonny, you look fine. We need to go! Your mom’s going to yell at us for being late.” She laughed. Sonny chuckled and placed a kiss to her forehead. With that, Sophia grabbed the car keys and off they went.
The drive to Mama and Papa Carisi’s house had Sonny extremely nervous. They were finally going to tell his parents that Sophia was pregnant. Even though Sophia was about three months, she worried something would happen so they waited to tell until she was about her second trimester. Once they pulled up to the house, Sonny and Sophia got out and Sophia gently knocked on the door.
“Sonny! Sophia! I’m so glad you two could make it to lunch.” Mama Carisi said. Sophia smiled as she hugged her mother-in-law tightly.
“Thanks for inviting us over, Dahlia. If I had to hear Sonny said how much he misses his mom’s spaghetti, I might lose my mind.” Sophia said with a laugh. Dahlia smiled at her son before the two walked in. Dom Sr was in the kitchen just finished up a few things before he walked into the dining room where his family was.
“It’s great to see you two.” Dom Sr said. He walked to Sophia and hugged her tightly before giving his son a hug as well.
“It’s great to see you, dad. So are we having ma’s famous spaghetti for lunch?” Sonny said. Both his parents laughed before nodded their heads and bringing the food in. The family prayed together before filling their plates and eating.
“So, Dominick tells me you have something to tell us.” Dahlia asked the couple. Sophia looked at Sonny as his face was red from blushing. Sophia rolled her eyes as she took a sip of her water.
“Well, I was planning on waiting until Sunday. When the entire family is over here after Mass. I guess somebody couldn’t wait to tell his parents.” Sophia shot a playful grin towards her husband. He ducked his head some as both Dahlia and And Dom Sr has their eyes on you.
“What is it, sweetie?” Dahlia said. You slowly exhaled as you grabbed Sonny’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“I’m pregnant. Sonny’s going to be a dad.” Sophia said as she looked between the two. It was quiet before Dahlia began to cry.
“A-are you really? My baby boy is going to be having a baby?” Dahlia said. Sophia nodded and stood, lifting her shirt enough to show the small baby bump that was beginning to form.
“Congratulations you two. I can’t believe it, my son is going to be a father.” Dom Sr said as he smiled at Sonny he stood slowly to give Sophia a kiss on the cheek.
“Now you can start bugging Bella about grandkids, ma.” Sonny said. Dahlia nodded as she tried to dry her tears to give Sophia and Sonny a hug.
