//Went with Audra. And thank you, I take a lot of care in pickign out the names :)//
“How is my daughter doing in there?” Peter placed his hand on your large belly.
“She’s pleasantly delightful. Just running out of room in there.” You gave Peter a kiss, “why don’t you go shower. Dinner should be ready be the time you get out.”
Peter nodded, “good idea.” He turned, heading for the bedroom.
Reaching up to grab plates from the cabinet a sharp pain ripped through your belly “Owww…God! Peter!“ Your hand went protectively to your abdomen, unable to keep the fear out of your voice.
Peter came back into the kitchen to find you crouched her over. “What’s wrong?”
“Something’s not right. The pain is…God!” Peter helped you over to a kitchen chair.
“I’m calling 9-1-1.” His voice was shaky. You nodded your head, trying to breath through the pain. “C’mon pick up for Christ’s sake. Yes. My wife is nine months pregnant. She’s having..”
“Peter? I’m bleeding! Oh. God.”
“She’s bleeding, sharp abdominal pain.” He gave address, etc to the dispatcher, then hung up.
“Mama what’s wrong?” Julian entered the kitchen, looking scared.
“C’mere Julian”, Peter motioned for him. “Mama is going to the hospital. Your baby sister is coming”, Peter said behind tears. His eyes full of fear as he held onto your hand.
“Peter, is hurts. So bad.”
“I know. I’m here.” Peter squeezed your hand. “I’ll call Margaret, see if she can watch Julian.” You nodded as Peter called your neighbor who watched Julian.
Margaret came right over. “Don’t worry, kids. Me and Julian will be fine. Won’t we bubala?” She kissed his cheek.
Several minutes later the squad arrived. You got loaded on the stretcher and gave kisses to Julian. “I’ll be right behind you”, Peter kissed your head. His eyes were glistening with tears. He smoothed your hair back and touched his forhead to yours. “I love you.”
“I love-ahh..ohhh!” Clenching your belly as you sobbed. “Ride with me, Peter please!”
“Go!” Margaret insisted, “we’ll bring the car to you later.”
Peter held your hand all the way to the squad. “It’s okay. You’re going to be okay. Audra is okay.” The look on Peter’s face told another story. He was scared but trying to stay strong for you.
“I’m so scared, Peter”, you sobbed. The medic was starting an IV, fluids and hooking you up to the monitor. “It took so long to-to..”
“I know baby, I know. So am I.” Peter held your free hand, bringing it to his lips for a kiss. “You are strong and I know our little girl is too.”
The ER was blur when you arrived. Call OB and get the OR ready. Type and cross for 2 units O neg. What’s mom’s vital signs? Do we have a heartbeat? Placental abruption. She’s lost a lot of blood…
Everyone sounded so far away. It was getting hard to keep your eyes open. “Peter? Peter?” Your voice barely a whisper. “I’m tired.”
“I’m right here, baby”, Peter reassured you. “I called your mom and dad. They’re flying in tonight.. Just stay awake, okay baby. Look at me.”
“Mr.Stone. We need to take her to surgery. We’re doing an emergency C-section.” As he nurse rolled you rolled you out of the room, you lost the battle with your heavy eyelids. Sleep. That’s all you needed. A nap and you’d feel better…
Your eyes fluttered open, confused at first where you were. Then memories flooded back. You grabbed your belly. The baby. Audra.
“Y/N?” Peter said softly. “Hey. There’s someone here that wants to meet you.” Peter placed he small, pink bundle in your arms. “Audra Grace, this is your mommy.” Peter’s eyes were glistening with tears.
“Oh. Oh my goodness. She is perfect.” You unwrapped your daughter from the blanket. Ten little toes and ten little fingers. Blonde hair like her daddy. You smoothe the downy hair, then kissed her head. “She’s really okay.”
“You know. This is one tough little gal.” Peter smiled at you with love, “she gets that from her mom.”
