“So I was thinking”, you came around Peter’s desk and sat sideways on his lap, “how about a we take a babymoon?”
“A baby what?” Peter raised an eyebrow at your question.
“A babymoon. It’s like a mini vacation before the baby is born. It’ll be awhile before we can travel again.” Placing a hand on your belly, you gave Peter a pleading look.
“I don’t know if I can get away-” Peter started to say.
“Just a long weekend”, you placed a hand on his chest. “Dr. Malvoy said the second trimester is the best time to fly. It’s safe.”
He studied you for a beat and sighed. “Where were you thinking of going?”
“Miami? A Friday through Monday?” You gave him a hopeful look.
“Book it. I’ll figure something out for work”, Peter told you.
“This was a great idea”, Peter remarked as he lay soaking up the sun.
“Mmmm….” was your only reply. The weather had been nasty in Chicago, cold and rainy. The sun felt so good.
“I’m going to go for a swim. Want to join me?” Peter stood over you.
Gazing at him over your sunglasses, “I’m good here. You go ahead.” He gave you a sad look. “Oh what the heck.” Peter grinned at your agreement.
You stood and took off your cover-up. Peter’s eyes ran over your body. All of a sudden you were very self conscious as you looked around at the women with rocking bodies. You wrapped your arms around your middle. “I know I shouldn’t be wearing a bikini being five months pregnant. I look-”
“Beautiful.” Peter finished your sentence and took your hands on his. “Amazing. Gorgeous. Now come on, let’s go for that swim.”
The warm water lapped at your feet and ankles as you scrunched sand between your toes. “Let’s move here”, you said to Peter. “I’d make a pretty good beach bum.”
Peter chuckled, “wouldn’t that be nice.” He gently tugged on your hand, pulling you further out in the surf.
Peter challenged you to a swim, which he won easily. “I’m going back. That wore me out.”
“Or maybe you’re a sore loser”, Peter said playfully with a splash in your direction.
“I’ll saw you sore loser!” You shot back teasingly. Grabbing his shoulders, you pushed him back then dunked him.
He came up sputtering and wiping the water from his face. “Oh kitten, you’re on trouble now!” He grabbed you around the waist, carefully and drug you to his chest. He started whispering everything he was going to do to you when you got back to the suite.
Peter held true to his promise when you got back to the suite. “Thought we could have dinner on the balcony. I ordered room service.” The two of you had showered, together of course. Peter changed into a pair of cargo shorts and a linen shirt. He looked delectable.
During dinner you discussed baby names. Peter insisted on Fabio, jokingly of course but he still had you laughing so hard you had tears streaming down your face.
“Thank you for indulging my crazy ideas, Peter.” you slid your arm around his waist as the two of your walked along the beach. The sun was just starting to set, painting the sky pink, orange and red.
Peter chuckled and squeezed your shoulder where his arm was around you. “I think we balance one another out, You give me spontaneity and I give you reserve.”
“Julian.” The name popped into your head. “Julian Stone.” Grinning you looked up at Peter.
He furrowed his brow. “Julian Xavier Stone”, he said and gave you a questioning look. Xavier had already been picked for a first name but you counkdn’t settle on a middle name.
You stopped walking. “Did we just name our son?”
“Yeah. I think we did”, Peter grinned. He dipped his head and kissed you as the waves crashed into the shore and the water swept over your feet.
