“Amor, you asleep?” Nick whispered.
You groaned and turned away from him, burying your head under the sheets and rearranging your pillow. It was way too early to be awake. Nick trailed gentle fingers down your side before tugging you back over to him. You went easily enough, but you buried your face in his chest and groaned again. He pulled the sheet back up over your shoulder and ran a warm hand over your back. He was quiet and you were drifting back to sleep before he spoke once more.
“How do you imagine our future together?” he whispered this time. You sighed and moaned as you kneed him gently in the side.
“Short–if you don’t quit talking while I’m trying to sleep,” you threatened in a sleep rough voice.
The vibrations from his chuckle rumbled under your ear and you smiled a little and ran a hand over his chest. Nick intertwined his fingers with your hand and you cracked one eye open before snapping it shut. That was the hand he had written on with a marker he had for some reason been carrying in his pocket. ‘Te casarías conmigo.’ Your high school Spanish wasn’t enough to tell you what it had said and even though Nick had been practicing with you he had refused to translate. He had made you promise to look it up later when he wasn’t around before dipping down to kiss you. You wondered what it meant and not knowing was pulling you fully out of your slumber.
“If I promise to not talk to you while you’re trying to sleep do you think we have a future together?” he asked. Although he was joking there was something serious in his tone. You pursed your lips and pressed a kiss to his chest before throwing your leg over his.
“Espero que sí.”
