When Diego and mc!Nick talked about the massage parlor business, Diego referred to Nick having a soft spot for Sonny. What is the backstory with mc!Nick, mc! Sonny, and Diego?

ok I’m tired af and just spent over an hour installing my window a/c unit by myself and then studied and it’s after midnight D: so uh…hope this makes sense!!!! #yikes #helpme

-Nick & Diego have been friends for a really long time. Diego went to the same middle school, but a different high school. (he used to live in the same neighborhood as Nick, but his family moved neighborhoods in 8th grade). as I mentioned…somewhere…Diego is one of the only people who has ever been in Nick’s bedroom aside from you (eventually). he’s Nick’s oldest friend and they’ve always been close, even when they had to distance each other because Diego went into local politics and Nick went into local law breaking. ha they text occasionally and meet up once a month to have a meal. Diego running for mayor makes things a little more fraught, though. 😦

-Nick & Sonny have also been friends for awhile, since middle school?, and they went to the same middle & high school. they were fast friends (bonded over beating up some rude kid who was picking on another one of their classmates). Nick actually knew Sonny’s (now) girlfriend longer than Sonny. (they weren’t close friends, but they did live near each other growing up.) Sonny & Nick just always clicked, but they also fought–like brothers, tbh. Nick isn’t as emotionally close to Sonny as he is to Diego, but he has always really had a great deal of affection for Sonny. he used to trust Sonny. considered them brothers. they gave each other stick & poke tattoos when they were 16. Nick prospecting Guardianes really hurt Sonny because he knew their relationship would never be the same. 

-Diego & Sonny never really got along. Diego thought Sonny was a nuisance and Sonny thought Diego was full of himself. most of the animosity was because both boys were close to Nick, but they had their reasons. Sonny always felt kinda second to Diego, but Diego always felt like Nick would do anything to protect Sonny.

it’s only with the massage parlor that Sonny & Nick kind of reconnect? and start speaking regularly again. for the last decade, or so, they’ve mostly avoided each other. some talks here and there about club stuff and they were both super closed off. the parlor is a good idea, but they’re also both secretly excited to be tentative friends again.
