Date Night
So this is my first imagine I’ve ever posted. I’d love some constructive criticism.

Warnings: descriptions of slight harassment
You had hoped for a nice night out with Sonny. You don’t get to see him as often as you’d like to due to his job as an SVU detective and your job as a secretary in the DA’s office. You two were constantly hustling and had time alone at your shared apartment maybe twice a week. That wasn’t enough for you. So on the rare occasion you both had a Saturday off, you decided it’d be fun to hit up a bar that opened nearby. Little did you know that a drunk college guy would spend the entire time trying to get your number and commenting on your appearance.
At first, Sonny sit back and let you handle it. You tried to let the guy down easy, telling him you had a boyfriend and to please leave you alone. When the guy said he’d like to “tap that ass,” and placed a hand on your arm, Sonny shot out of his seat and stepped in front of you, shoving the guys hand off you and flashing his badge. He told the guy to get lost or else he’d arrest him on the spot, quite loudly. You’d never seen a bar quiet down that quickly and just stare at the confrontation. The college guy left and not ten minutes later, you were pulling Sonny out of the bar by his arm and climbing in a taxi.
He kept asking you the whole ride what was wrong, but you insisted you were fine until you got into your building. He wouldn’t stop and told you that he thought he did the right thing at the bar. That’s when you went off.
“Can you just stop? My god, Sonny!” You whirled around to face him in your shared kitchen, sticking your hand out to prevent him from coming any closer to you.
“What, you’re seriously mad at me? That guy was harassing you and you expect me to not say anything?” Your boyfriend of two years shut and locked your apartment door you’d both just stormed through.
“You didn’t have to cause a scene and almost arrest him! That was so embarrassing we can’t ever go back there.” You placed your clutch on the counter and stuffed your face in your hands.
“I wasn’t just going to sit there while that idiot put his hands on you, Y/N,” Sonny started, putting his hands on his hips and looking at you. “I really don’t see what the problem is, I got rid of him. We could’ve stayed, you know.”
“No we couldn’t have, Sonny,” You put your hands out in exasperation. He just didn’t get it. “The entire bar was looking at us. You could’ve been a little quieter and just told the guy to get lost. You didn’t have to flash your badge at him and almost arrest him! Are you insane? Why can’t we ever just have a peaceful night out?” You shut your eyes, more frustrated at yourself and not him. Maybe this was your fault. You chose the bar, and you thought you could get rid of the guy on your own.
“Doll, I did what I thought was best in the situation. I could’ve been calmer, you’re right. But I can’t stand the thought of anyone else touching you, okay? I was jealous, and I’m sorry.” Sonny took a few steps towards you and held both of your hands, staring down at you as you hesitantly looked up at his crystal blue eyes.
“Ugh, I know. It’s just we are so busy and I was really looking forward to just having some fun and letting go tonight.” You admitted, pouting as your thumbs rubbed patterns on his hands.
“It’s okay, doll. We could always try to go out next time. But, we don’t need to go out to have fun. How ‘bout we get changed, I put some popcorn in the microwave and you can choose a movie for us to watch.” He gave you a small smile, dimple popping out and your heart melted. How could you ever stay mad at this man?
“Okay, fine,” You conceded, flashing him a small smile and kissing his cheek. “I love you, you know that right?”
“Yeah I do, doll. I love you, too.” Your sweet Sonny laced his arms around your waist as you looped your arms around his neck, giving you a soft, sweet kiss. You pulled away, eyes sparkling, and he grinned before pecking you once more and releasing you. “Now let’s get changed before I regret letting you choose the movie. No Moana this time, please.”
“Ugh, fine,” you dramatically groaned as you held Sonny’s hand, swinging them as you walked towards your room in sync. “Maybe not this time.”
