You smiled briefly as Nick’s old lady offered you a set of clothes to change into. She offered you her bed saying she could go stay with Nick for the night, but you refused. The couch would be fine for a night.
“You know you can stay as long as you need to,” she reminded you as she sat down on the couch next to you, folding her legs under herself. You fingered the soft tee shirt and avoided looking at her when you responded.
“Can’t put you out for long,” you dismissed with another strained smile before inhaling and looking up at her. “I’ll get a hotel room or something tomorrow.” She bit her cheek and ignored her phone that had been buzzing with text messages ever since the two of you had gotten in the door.
