Ever since Rafael left and Peter joined, Sonny had been thinking over the choices of becoming an actual ADA. Even though he said he’s postpone it, he really began to think about it. When he learned of an opening, he applied for the position and waited. Days passed and nothing, a few weeks passed and nothing. When he came home one day, he checked the mail and noticed he had an envelope from the DA’s office. He ran to the apartment and sat on the couch and read it.

The largest smile moved over his lips as he saw that he got the job. Even though he would only be shadowing different district attorneys until they found him ready to prosecute a case by himself. Sonny didn’t care. He was one step closer to his dream job. Sonny wanted to go out and celebrate so once you got home from work, you two would go to dinner.

You two had gone to a nicer restaurant, Sonny always saying how, ‘One day, doll, I’ll take you there.’ He could barely contain his excitement as you two ordered drinks and food. You glanced under the table and noticed Sonny’s leg as bouncing before you looked back at him.

“You alright, Sonny? You seem either nervous or excited.” You asked. Sonny only bounced his leg when he was one of those two moods. He chuckled some as a large smile crossed his lips.

“You have no idea how excited I am, doll!” Sonny said. His smile was contagious and you couldn’t help but smile yourself.

“What happened today, sunshine?” Sonny wanted to wait to tell you but he couldn’t.

“So, you know how I applied to work at the DA’s office a few weeks ago? I’ve been waiting to hear anything from them. When I got home today, I found a letter from them. Doll, I got in.” Sonny said with a large smile. Your smile widened as you watched him.

“So.. you’re telling me that Detective Carisi is now going to ADA Carisi? Counselor Carisi? Sonny, that’s amazing! I’m so happy and proud of you.” You grabbed his hands and gave them both a quick squeeze.

“D-doll. You’re gonna make me blush.” Sonny said as he bowed his head as you saw the light pink on his cheeks.

“Have you figured out when you’re telling Olivia?” Slowly Sonny lifted his head at your question.

“Not yet. I have to go in on Monday to talk to a few people about the job. It’s just me shadowing people right now. I’ll talk to her Tuesday when I go in. Let’s not worry about that now, doll. Let’s enjoy dinner, alright?” Sonny said. You nodded as you pulled your hands back and into your lap.

“Whatever you say, counselor.” Watching Sonny’s face light up when you called him that might have been the highlight of dinner for you.
