“Hey baby, it’s me again. I know I’ve already called like a zillion
times and I know you’re busy but I’m really craving something sweet so can you
please get me something on your way home? I’ll love forever and ever and ever.
Thanks baby! Bye!” you say into your phone before hanging up. That was the
third message you had left your boyfriend, Sonny, this afternoon. You were nine
months pregnant, on bedrest, and due any day now. Lying down in bed all day wasn’t
an issue—you loved being lazy and catching up on the latest reality tv. The
only thing that bugged you were your persistent cravings. No matter what you
did, you couldn’t stop thinking about sweet, sugary foods. Sonny had told you
that he would get you whatever you needed if he wasn’t busy, but he hadn’t answered
your calls all day.

Feeling defeated, you stumbled your way into the kitchen. There’s got to be some junk food in here
somewhere, you think to yourself. With one hand on your swollen belly, you place
the other on the fridge, opening it for the fifth time in the last hour. You
groaned at the healthy snacks and cursed Sonny for not buying you what you
craved. Just as you were about to lose the doors once more, a white can with a
red lid caught your eye from the corner of the middle shelf. You moved around
the milk to reveal a can of whipped cream all in its lonesome. You had
completely forgot Sonny bought it for homemade Sundaes last week. You licked
your lips as you immediately threw the cap to the side, dipped your head back,
and began spraying the cold, whipped sweetness into your mouth. You moaned as
the treat met your taste buds, satisfying every need you had at the moment. It
felt like heaven in your mouth.

“Hey, doll. I brought you some—what are ya doing there?”
Sonny’s voice startled you as you didn’t hear him come in. You jumped with your
finger still on the nozzle and whipped cream got all over your chest and belly.

“You scared me!” you say, placing a hand to your beating
heart.

“I can tell. I haven’t seen you covered in white in a while,
sweetheart,” he winks.

“Sonny!” you exclaim, chucking the can at his face. His
quick reflexes allow him to catch it fast with a chuckle.

“I brought you some cookies, doughnuts, and chocolate but it
seems like you already got your sweet fix in for the day.”

You rolled your eyes as you walked towards your boyfriend. “Thank
you, baby,” you say, placing a soft kiss to his lips. Suddenly you felt a rumble
in your stomach.

“I think the baby wants to thank you as well,” you say,
placing Sonny’s hand on your belly. Your baby continued to kick as Sonny looked
at you in awe. He got down on his knees and placed both hands on your tummy.

“I can’t wait to meet you, sweetheart. Mommy and daddy love
you so much.”
