The late night air was cool and the petrichor emanates from the damp city streets. Clothed in a sunflower-yellow dress and wedges, you walk down the well-lit neighborhood. Echoes of your laughter singing through the streets as you walk with a gentle and casual hold on the muscular bicep that belongs to your date. Taking in his intoxicating smell and how electrifyingly sweet his laugh is. You take note of his hearty laugh and compare it to his lack of laughing only a couple weeks prior.
“It’s nice… Hearing you laugh.” You smile up at him and let go of his arm as he opens the lobby door to your apartment building, letting you walk in before him.
“It’s nice going out with someone I can laugh with. I don’t this very often.” He explains, watching you press the up arrow for the elevator.
“Laugh?” You question, turning to look at him.
“No, I meant going out with a pretty girl.” He chuckles casually as he steps on the elevator with you. “I’m always too caught up in my cases that I don’t really stop to smell the roses, ya know?”
“Yeah, the overly watered roses.” You giggle motioning to your damp clothing and wet hair from the earlier short downpour that interrupted your date.
“I’m sorry about that, I-”
“Whoa, don’t be sorry. I had a fantastic evening, rain and all.” You assure him as you step off the elevator and he walks you to your apartment door. Turning around to face him, you see him smiling with his hands shoved in his back pockets.
❤❤ ahhh…Sweet Pete.
