carisi-dreams:

oooh got it! no problem. ❤ [mentioned here]

You woke up with a frown, blinking an eye open and met with a face full of fur. Groaning you pushed Shadow gently so that he’d move from where he had camped out on your pillow. It was strange for him to be on your side of the bed. Usually if he wasn’t on Nick’s pillow he was huddled between the two of you or at the foot of the bed. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d found him sleeping almost on top of your head. Bringing a hand up to your mouth you pulled a few cat hairs off of your lip with a disgusted look and another moan. Nick shifted in bed, turning over and pulling you into him before even opening his eyes.

“Morning,” he mumbled as he planted his face in your neck. You sighed in exasperation even as you brought up a hand to ruffle his hair. Apparently both Amaro boys were going to plant themselves on top of you at this hour.

“Morning,” you replied, letting your hand drift to his back. He laid there a little longer, relaxing under your light back rub and wrapping his arm more firmly around you. “Your cat is being a menace this morning,” you complained in a quiet voice even as Shadow picked his way up the bed again to lay on Nick’s pillow, his nose twitched as he cautiously stretched his neck so that his face was close to yours. He meowed and you raised an eyebrow at him and nudged Nick. He shifted again before stretching, leaning back and gently gathering Shadow in one hand to place next to his hip instead. He kept a hand on him and stroked his fur firmly before he turned to press a kiss to your lips. Your nose wrinkled at his morning breath, but you still went in for another.

“Why are you bugging your mom this morning, hmm?” Nick asked as he turned back to glance at Shadow. He was purring with his eyes closed and Nick turned back to look at you with a shrug. “Sorry, amor. Us Amaro boys just love to be up under you,” he teased, voice raspy still. You pursed your lips and rolled your eyes before you sat up and pushed yourself out of the bed.

“Well maybe the Amaro boys can make the lady of the house something for breakfast,” you said in response on the way to the bathroom. Nick’s answering chuckle followed you into the bathroom and you bit back on a smile.

Later that morning you were sitting on the couch, stuffed from the breakfast Nick had actually made. There was the gently clink of glass coming from the kitchen as he loaded the dishwasher and you stretched out your legs, putting your feet up on the coffee table in front of you. You had just reached for the remote to turn the television up when Shadow padded out of the kitchen and made a beeline for you. He tilted his head before gracefully jumping onto the couch and picking his way over to your lap where he curled up in a ball and settled. You scratched fingers through his fur lightly even as you raised your eyebrows. Shadow loved you, that you knew, but it was rare that he favored you over Nick if you both were home. The fact that it happened twice in the same morning was suspicious.

“Your cat is doing the most this morning!” you called into the kitchen, smiling down at where Shadow was purring steadily. Nick came back in the living room with his coffee and settled onto the couch next to you.

“Why’s he always my cat when he’s doing something weird or annoying?” he complained and you looked to the side flatly before responding.

“No comment,” you replied drily and he gave you an unamused face which made you laugh.

“Love you. Thank you for breakfast,” you said sincerely with a smile as you leaned over for a kiss. He kissed you easily, hand coming to the back of your neck to hold you in place to extend it.

“Practice makes perfect,” Nick husked and you nudged your nose against his before kissing him again. The two of you had been trying for a baby for months now and that had become Nick’s motto after making a joke one night in bed after a long weekend of sex. You weren’t complaining, but you were starting to feel a little achy.

“I need a massage before I can practice again,” you murmured against his mouth with a smile, “I’m a little achy.” Nick pulled away to look you in the eye, a concerned expression growing on his face.

“Yeah? Was I too rough? I was j—I mean, I wasn’t joking I’m always down to have sex with you, but if you’re in pain or,” Nick tripped over his words, hand trailing down to your hip and squeezing lightly. You gave him a grateful smile and shook your head, trying to cut him, but he kept talking. “Amor, you have to—I want to know if I’m—if you don’t want to,” he was starting to look seriously upset and you displaced Shadow in order to climb into Nick’s lap, hands coming to rest on his shoulders. He gripped your hip in one hand and face in the other.

“I’m fine. I’m fine,” you reassured him with a squeeze. “You didn’t hurt me. You weren’t too rough, not even close. You know I’d tell you.” He nodded even as he bit his lip, concern not abating. “I just noticed it,” you admitted. “Hips, back and boobs are a little achy…not pain, just feeling fatigued?” you searched for the right words and Shadow meowed loudly, upset at being left out of the conversation. Nick looked to the side to shush him before looking back at you. His expression shifted to something more contemplative and you waited for him to speak. Nick raised his hand from your hip to trail to your stomach, thumb rubbing lightly as his face carried the same look.

“This is going to sound crazy, but Shadow…maybe he’s…” Nick trailed off before taking a deep breath and starting again. “I think you should take another pregnancy test,” he announced.

I’m not crying you’re crying.
