  • Picture it: It’s a warm summer night, Peter is dressed in a tight black v neck and baseball cap while you’re in a sundress, holding hands as you stroll down the street, the smell of pretzels and the sound of overly cheery fair music filling the air
  • You stop, eyeing a blue stuffed bear on the top shelf of one of those water gun point and shoot games
  • You dig your tickets out of the dress’s side pocket (pockets! in a dress!) and hand a few over to the teenaged boy who was most definitely staring at your chest. Peter clears his throat, and the boy blushes as he explains the rules to you, pointing you over to seat number four.
  • It takes a few tries, but eventually you score enough points to win that tiny blue bear, handing it over to Peter with a smile on your face. Peter leans down to kiss your cheek, taking the bear into one of his hands and gently holding yours in the other, thumb stroking over your fingers.
  • “You hungry?” He asks sweetly, and you nod eagerly, asking him what he wants to try first. Peter steers the two of you over to a cotton candy booth, watching as the fluffy blue and pink clouds are made
  • Peter rips a piece off, feeding you the sugary treat and kissing you right after, humming in appreciation.
  • Peter will never say it aloud, but he’s a little scared of heights. It takes quite a bit convincing for you to get him to ride the pirate ship with you. You don’t mind the way he grips your hands so tightly you think they might break, and you try not to laugh when he stumbles off the ride, face a little pale, mumbling that he’ll “just stick to the merry-go-round next time, thank you”
  • The two of you spend your last few tickets buying soft pretzels and trying to throw tiny bites into each other’s mouths, laughing whenever one of you misses. It makes the time pass quickly as you were waiting in line for the ferris wheel, your last ride of the night.
  • When you reach your carriage, you lean your head against Peter, tossing your legs over his lap. Peter’s hand runs up your thigh, stopping at the hem of your dress. “I love you, Peter.” you whisper, turning toward him. Peter is looking down at you with so much love it makes your heart stop, breath caught in your throat.
  • “I love you too, so much.” Peter kisses you again as the ride stops to let more people on, carriage shaking when the ride restarts. Eventually, the two of you reach the top, overlooking the water and marveling at how if you look closely, you’re able to see a few stars peeking through the night sky
  • “Thank you for this. I know I’ve been busy, but moments like this, with you. “ Peter smiles, a small laugh tumbling past his lips. “You make me so happy.”
  • You return his laugh, pulling him close enough to keep you warm. “Look who’s talking.”
