//I love Peter, yes I do!//
It was rare that Peter was home before you, tonight was one of those times. Work had been a nightmare. All you wanted was to see your babies and snuggle with Peter.
Morty, your black lab met you at the door. “Hey boy”, you scratched behind his ears. “Hope your day was better than mine.” He barked in response. “Peter?”, you called out.
“Family room.” He answered. As you approached the family room, you could hear the sounds of a baseball game.
Peter was on the couch sipping a beer and watching a Cubs game. You flopped down beside him and grabbed his beer. You tipped it back, finishing it you handed him the bottle.
“Rough day?” He put his arm around your shoulders and leaned your head on his chest.
“That’s an understatement.” You let out a long sigh. “Kids sleep?”
“Yeah, about an hour ago.” Peter stood and held the bottle up, “Want another?”
“No. Think I’m gonna shower then go to bed. I’m going to peek in on the kids first”, standing on tiptoe you give him a kiss on the cheek.
“I’ll be up after the game is over.” Peter sank back on the couch.
You pushed the bedroom door open, not bothering to turn on the light and went straight to the shower. The hot water helped relax your sore muscles and weary soul. Feeling marginally better you got out of the shower, slipped on your robe and wrapped a towel around your wet hair.
“What’s all this?”, you said with surprise. Peter had pulled down the covers, was holding a pizza in one hand and a sweet tea in the other. He had Parks and Rec cued up on Netflix.
“Well you texted earlier saying it was a crap day and you’d be late. So, I thought I’d try to make it a little better.” He gave you a shy grin.
“Petey, this is perfect. Truly. You are joining me, right?”, you urged.
“Of course, darling. I’ve been looking forward to it all day.”
You changed into one of Peter’s old Cubs T-shirts and climbed into bed. Sitting on the bed, with Peter eating pizza and watching Netflix was just what you needed. After you ate, you snuggled under the covers with Peter. He wrapped one arm around you and you laid your head on his chest. His chest softly rumbling with his laughter was the last thing you remembered before falling asleep.
