– Rafael doesn’t really get along with anyone. He’s brash, stand-offish and mostly just insults the others. He does however, have a slight soft spot for Sonny although he won’t admit it. The two of them share quiet inside jokes and grins over drinks that no one else really understands. Rafael can be pretty protective of Sonny, and has been known to stand up for him if some of the other fighters are making fun of him.Â
– Sonny, the glue, gets along with everyone except Nick. Rafael is protective over him, and sometimes offers assistance when he’s barely getting by. He and Peter are friends, from time to time even in the light of day. Mike helps Sonny learn to fight better and work out sometimes. However, Nick doesn’t trust him. He doesn’t believe that someone so good at fighting can actually be that reserved. Early on, he gets it in his head that Sonny’s probably working undercover for someone.
– Nick has a tentative friendship with Peter and Mike. He respects Mike a lot, as a fighter, an ex-marine, and as a human. When he looks at him, he sees the man that he used to wish he could become. And Peter and him are birds of a feather. Both fighting to impress a father they never will, both wishing that they could get more out of life.
– Mike hates Rafael. He thinks that he’s rude and disrespectful. While he’s taken Sonny and Nick under his wing in a way, he has yet to make up his mind about Peter. The man just doesn’t talk much, and he has this air about him like there’s something he’s not saying.
– Peter isn’t super involved with any of them, really. He likes Sonny, considers them friends. He has an unspoken understanding with Nick. Rafael seems to hate him. And Mike always looks like he’s trying to figure Peter out. The only reason he hangs around the group is because he has nowhere else to go, and this way he can make sure that they don’t get it in their drunken brains to do something too stupid.
