Ben is in his monsters phase. Which means you and Peter have to check for monsters under the bed, in the closet, and leave the night light on.
Peter had found a soothing workaround, “monster repellant.” Which was really just febreeze with a paper label put over the original label. It was lavender scented to help Ben sleep.
Usually it worked, but sometimes it didn’t. “MAMA! DADDY!” Your little boy’s cries startled the both of you awake. Peter climbed out of bed and headed for Ben’s room, the boy was crying under the covers.
You came a moment later, needing your robe. “Aw Benny what happened?” The toddler attached himself to his father’s chest, Peter hugged him tight. He sobbed out details of a bad dream, something about monsters eating him.
You and Peter hugged and cuddled him till he fell back asleep, content and safe. Peter didn’t want to let him go, “can he sleep with us? Please?” You smiled and nodded, and your husband gently scooped the boy up.
Your two boys slept curled up with each other, you pressed kisses to both of their foreheads before turning to sleep as well.
