It’s on wiki so it’s plausible that someone just put it in there, especially since it’s not listed as being sourced. ++ given Sonny’s stature and demeanor it doesn’t make sense for him to be ex-marine. That’s just my thought process
But if we wanna talk about military Sonny… as a marine he’d thrive in the humanitarian work and protecting people and ugh let my boy help the world like he was destined to

also! a friend of mine from HS was in the marines & I met up with him a little after his service and he hadn’t changed a lot (in my brief lunch with him) outwardly. he was still a tall, skinny half Jewish/half black boy who was kinda socially awkward which is how I knew him in HS, too. haha
so I think it’s def possible so sonny to still be…sonny even post marine corps. depends, too, on what kind of marine he was/how he served. my friend drove humvees and the marines I grew up around were msgs (marine security guards at embassies around the world). so there’s definitely room in there for marine!sonny if we want to ~explore that.
