You were currently dry heaving into the toilet, your stomach trying to throw up whatever was upsetting it. Recently, you’d come down with a rather nasty stomach bug. Thankfully Peter was nursing you through it. He was sweet to you.
The worst of it seemed to be over, so you washed up and dragged your feet into the kitchen where your boyfriend was cooking breakfast. The smell alone made you wanna hurl, but there was nothing left to hurl. Peter slid a cup of ginger green tea to you, and chuckled at your confused expression. “It’s supposed to help with nausea.” You tentatively took a sip and scrolled through social media on your phone.
After breakfast, you and Peter kissed goodbye and headed for work. While on the subway, you decided to check your calendar for today. Only to notice a little inconsistency. Your period was supposed to be due a little over two weeks ago. Were you late? Taking a deep breath, you decided not to jump to the worst possible scenario. You’ve been under a lot of stress at work lately, stress can make you late. It’s fine… But buying a couple of tests wouldn’t hurt.
Three rows of positives stared back at you tauntingly in the women’s bathroom of your office. Pregnant, how could you be pregnant? You and Peter were so careful. Then it clicked, his birthday was a few weeks ago. You’d both had too much to drink and had forgotten the condom in your drunken late night shenanigans.
How are you going to explain this to Peter? What if he doesn’t want to be a father? What if he wants to get rid of it? That last thought made you instinctively put a hand to your stomach. You couldn’t do that. Carefully, you packed the tests into your purse and went to sit at your desk. This issue would have to wait until tonight.
Later that night, you and Peter were cooking dinner together, as you usually do. He was talking about a frustrating case, apparently one of the victims recanted on the stand. “I’m not sure how far I’ll be able to take this case, the jury doesn’t believe any of the victims anymore.” You weren’t really paying attention “oh.” The tests were haunting your mind. Peter noticed your distraction and decided to poke a little fun.
“And Liv told me she was going to get a part-time job as a clown.”
“Mhm.”
“I think I’m going to become an acrobat, join the circus with her.”
“Yeah- wait what?”
The man laughed, “you weren’t paying attention, were you?” You chuckled and apologized. “My mind has been preoccupied lately,” that got his attention. “With what?” You took a breath, now or never.
“Peter I’m late.” He paused to process what you said. “What do you mean late? How late?” The questions didn’t make your nerves any better. Oh God, what if he really didn’t want it? You reached over to your purse and pulled out the pregnancy tests.
Peter read over them carefully. As if you didn’t spend 20 minutes in the bathroom doing that this morning. “You’re pregnant?” Folding your arms across your chest, you nodded. “Look, if you don’t want this I won’t drag you down. I’ll just go and-”
Before you could finish your sentence, Peter hugged you. “We’re going to be parents? For real?” Wait.. He was excited? “Yeah. Wait so you’re not mad?” Your boyfriend was smiling from ear to ear, cupping a hand on your belly. “No sweetheart. I’m not, I promise. Sorry if I sounded nervous earlier, I was just so shocked.. But wow, we’re going to be parents!” He picked you up and kissed you, clearing any doubts from your mind.
“I can’t wait to have this baby with you. You’re going to be an amazing mom Y/N. I love you.” Kissing the taller man’s lips, you sighed. “I love you too Petey Pie.” He rolled his eyes at the nickname, but let it slide this time.
I’m really liking Peter.Â
